Explain why you claim your culture is important to you, but you haven't:

Seen An Opera
Been To See A Symphony Orchestra
Seen A Play
Read Poetry
Visited An Art Galley
Been To A Museum
Read A Classic Novel
Taken An Architecture Tour in A Major City
in the last year - or EVER for some of you.

hurr duur muh understanding of my own culture begins and ends with TV and complaining about other cultures ...while you basically refuse to support your own.

I'm replying because despite probably being an exception, you're wrong about me
I only listen to classical radio and sing tenor in church choir too

there's a little more to cvulture than this, dear fellow
many of what you've listed are expensive as fuck
I've done the cheapests and realized that's not worth it
>>
I am "everything I like about Europe and pretending all the stuff I don't like don't exist" I'm German and Italian so that's pretty much "broadly western European."

The way I see it, classical has the best music and post modernism is all about pretending otherwise, so a post modernist would put on harsh noise and tell you they honestly enjoy and feel better than if they put on Beethoven.

This is what western culture at the middle and upper levels does, it goes through stages each time pretending the last was just a fashion statement even though all of them except post modernism have actually had meaning, that one alone is a fashion statement and it's the first time women have outnumbered men in the officialised, academic arts.

And no shock, post modernism has links to Marxism.

You're going to find more classical music listeners here than on /mu/, which is why mods don't move us because we're talking about culture and mine and OPs specialities only just so happens to be music.

We could do philosophy? But the loudest post modernist philosopher is Anita Sarkeesian, you know the "everything is x" speech? Pure post modernism.

Saw a play back in February. Went to a museum back in May. However I have been too broke and busy in the past year to do more. Though I have done everything you have listed at least once in my life so I am not a complete cultural failure.

I literally did everything you listed, and im continuing.

My favorite opera is Nabucco
My favorite symphony is no. 1 by tchaikovsky
My favorite play is Woe from Wit
I do visit hermitage and russian museum 2 times a week
My favorite novel is Master and Margarita and im currently reading War and Peace (though its really a hard read for me)
Im almost always walking back to my home from college not by subway but on my foot because i like to look around and examine facades of XIX century buildings in historical area of my city

> Seen An Opera
Done twice, dislike it very much
> Been To See A Symphony Orchestra
I don't usually go to concerts
> Seen A Play
Several times, last was one year ago.
> Read Poetry
Regularly
> Visited An Art Galley
I do, usually once every 6 months
> Been To A Museum
One of my favourite past times, I visit a dozen or so different museums every year
> Read A Classic Novel
Read most of the classics years ago. I now focus more on essays. I still read the occasional novel for escapism, but it's one in 4 or 5 books
> Taken An Architecture Tour in A Major City
Here it's easy: it is an architecture tour every city you visit.

Was your stupid autism and divide and conquer satisfied?

This as well. There's no shame in not being able to do everything. However, some activities for real cultural enrichment, like reading books, listening, taking a look at art, are free or very cheap.
>>
>>132594553
>though its really a hard read for me
Then just stop reading it. It's a fucking story book, meant to be entertaining. If you don't enjoy it, what the fuck are you doing reading it? Just to brag about it even though nobody cares?
>>
>>132593276
I've done all of those things and I'm Asian. When are we going to get the backlash for "cultural appropriation"?
>>
>>132593276
nothing, i live in a new world country with no identity or culture
>>
>>132593276
>Visited An Art Galley
I take girls i want to fuck there but know barely anything about art, does that count?
But seriously i like a ballet more than plays or opera.
>>
>>132593276
I'm american so none of this is my culture.
>>

>Seen An Opera
I have
>Been To See A Symphony Orchestra
I have
>Seen A Play
I have
>Read Poetry
I have
>Visited An Art Galley
as a restaurator I do this quite often
>Been To A Museum
this too
>Read A Classic Novel
not really my thing, I want to be entertained or enlightened by reading and most classic novels are just plain depressing
>Taken An Architecture Tour in A Major City
have done this in prague berlin vienna dresden stuttgart and brno, everyone should see prague atleast once in their lives
