Were you aware that Ghadafi was a fucking saint? He had so much gold, he could have made Africa into one of the most rich and powerful continents in the world. He used his wealth and power to give housing and free medical to his people. He created a man-made river and irrigation system that was considered impossible and once finished, was registered by Guinness as a modern marvel. Israel benefited from the power vacuum left when Sadam was brought down. As it is benefiting from the war in Syria. Every State is engaged in perpetual competition against others to secure resources, technology, better trade deals, etc.
Israel maintains its position of Regional power by desestabilising neighbour States. Its in her interest that war keeps going on in the middle east, as it will prevent other states to challenge Israel.
Thats why they are always memeing the Iranians as a threat.

After 9/11 the US public was very anti-terrorism and Saddam was paying a reward to the families of suicide bombers in Israel. IMO this reason was on par with chemical weapons.
>>
>>132576066
We found buried sarin gas canisters, and Syria got the rest. It's not hard to figure out that Saddam was still stockpiling chemical weapons illegally, and not hard to figure out that Bush just wanted to finish his daddy's war.
>>
>>132576097
That's because Iraq was a war started for no reason. We thought the attacks were carried out by the country instead of a rogue terrorist faction.

>>
>>132576097
Only because we left it before we rebuilt it completely but we did completely destroy and disband their armed forces and execute their leader and occupy their country for at least 8 years so I wouldn't say it was a loss. What does a victory look like in your opinion?
>>
>>132575990

Smith v Republic of Iraq et al

$104 million for September 11 victims, the only September 11 verdict in history.

The firm won a $104 million verdict in 2003 on behalf of the families of victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. The verdict was directed against the Republic of Iraq, al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The case was tried before a Federal Judge in Manhattan. The lawyers from The Beasley Firm were the first and only to prove that the Republic of Iraq provided “material support or resources” to, and conspired with, Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda network of terrorists. The Beasley Firm lawyers took a shrewd approach, focusing on only six defendants. We deployed expert witnesses in masterful fashion, with testimony powerful enough to convince a federal judge that a credible cause of action existed. It was a case widely scoffed at by legal observers when it was first filed. No one thought The Beasley Firm lawyers could marshal sufficiently compelling evidence. Instead, with the assistance of former CIA director R. James Woolsey, and Laurie Mylroie, Ph.D., as well as compelling satellite photos, statements from foreign Ambassadors, and volumes of exhibits, The Beasley Firm obtained the world’s only 9-11 verdict.

Incorrect. The Sunni majority boycotted the first election, fearing that a Shiite majority would win and lord it over them.

Of course, by NOT FUCKING VOTING, the Sunnis ensured that the Shiites would get their majority, since only Shiites went to vote.

Consequently, the Sunnis, feeling oppressed and put upon, decided to form their own little Jaysh militias, many of them joining what eventually became Al Sadr's army. They started to carry out terror attacks and ethnic cleansing in retaliation for the Shiite victory.

The Shiites then responded in kind, but rather than form militias, they just occupied the government positions that could direct the Iraqi police and military that were being trained by Americans.

At the same time there were Baathist remnants who had planned for a protracted insurgency smuggling in weapons and munitions from primarily Iran and giving a stiff organized resistance.

And there were loads of foreign mujaheden jihadis coming in through primarily Syria (because Assad was pushing them into it) who just wanted to die for Allah.

All the while the US military, which actually understood the reality of the situation pretty well, was incessantly hampered by the State Department which was operating under political correctness and liberal assumptions that have no basis in fact.

In short, it was a mess born of muzzies being muzzies.

Here's a full copy of the brief, which is actually titled 'Smith v. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan', not that the facts seem to matter to you.

The evidence against Iraq, which was added as a defendant after the lawsuit was filed, consists of testimony from former CIA director for Bill Clinton, Robert Woolsey, and Iraq "expert" Laurie Mylroie.

1) Robert Woolsey's testimony is based on evidence manufactured by the CIA that was later proven to be false.
a) The alleged 'Prague meeting' between Mohammed Atta and Iraqi Intelligence operatives, which was subsequently investigated by the FBI and the Czech intelligence services, and proven to not have occurred. Dick Cheney even admitted in 2006 that the intelligence report provided by the CIA was beyond flimsy.
https://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2006/03/20060329-2.html
b) A letter from then CIA director George Tenet, who later wrote in a memoir that Vice President Cheney had encouraged him to act pursuant to creating an imminent threat of the Iraqi regime.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/27/washington/27intel.html?pagewanted=all
c) The "evidence" of hijacking training grounds was provided by an Iraqi defector in a 'Frontline' Interview, which was later debated to be unreliable.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salman_Pak_facility#Sabah_Khodada

2) Laurie Mylroie is known to be an unreliable, if not at least controversial, voice on Iraqi affairs.
https://web.archive.org/web/20081101154056/http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2003/0312.bergen.html

3) The court defaulted in judgment against Iraq because none of the defendants appeared in court.

Please, please, please THINK for a FUCKING SECOND about what happened to our country.

Examine whatever you like, I couldn't care less. But my claim was that the status of the Iraqi government as sponsors of terror was proved in federal court.

The evidence shows that it was, in fact, proved in federal court.

You keep saying that that Americans died for no reason in Iraq. But your claim is unsupported by your evidence, which amounts to no more than slander of the people who gave testimony in court.

Which, by the way, is an old argument. When you can't win on the merits, attack the individual instead!

You claim to not hate America while you slander the efforts of the men whose bodies you're trying to climb up on to plant your little flag? That's why I say you hate America. Go live in Cuba, you piece of filth.

it's very easy for smart people to adapt. you can drop them in a new country or job and they'd succeed every time. navigating a domestic regime change for them is trivial.

mandatory (((qualifications))) are understood by most people to be necessary because they can't fathom a life where you intuitively understand things up instantly. smart people are competent at most things from day 1, but smarter sociopathic people realized they could make a hierarchy with themselves at the top by telling the masses that (((qualifications))) made you smart and were necessary to do any job.

germany and japan have lots of smart people. the middle east mostly has goblin drones like everyone else. i imagine that's why the (((US military))) still has millitary bases balls deep in these countries; gotta keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
>>
>>132585524
You are straw manning my argument. I never claimed that if something was proved in court it was an incontrovertible fact. I claimed that Iraq was found in court to be a State sponsor of terror, which is a true claim.

Plessy v. Ferguson also proved in federal court that Jim Crow segregation was legal. The Dred Scott decision was proved in court that slavery was legal. Our history is replete with things that we would today consider morally wrong, but held up as legal.

Nevertheless, my point stands and yours does not. Your further attempt to impeach the decision by slandering the people that gave testimony just goes to show the weakness of your argument.

Your view of history is warped. Gaddafi was an enemy of the United States for twenty years before the Bush administration reigned him in. It was the Obama-Clinton machine that turned him into an enemy again because they couldn't have Bush era victories stand.

With regard to the Iran-Iraq war, of course the United States backed Iraq. The Iranians had just held our citizens hostage in 1979. But it was Saddam who stabbed us in the back by invading Kuwait, not the other way around. Talk about a war for nothing, his aggression came out of nowhere and served no point except to piss everyone else off and get loads of Iraqis killed.

>Saddam's regime was a State sponsor of terror.

You later qualified that this was proven in a U.S. civil court lawsuit, premised on evidence we now know is largely false. I don't think that is or was sufficient evidence to connect the Iraqi regime to the September 11th attacks, let alone to invade the country of Iraq. There's plenty of evidence that the CIA and State Department contrived evidence of Iraqi WMD development and terror connections, in order to drum up domestic and international support for an invasion of Iraq. You're one of very few people still clinging on to the idea that Iraq was good for America or Americans. I feel bad for you.

What you have to understand is the news will always try to cater to the largest audience possible and confirm their bias.

No, Saddam turning on us after we supported him and being an unstable ruthless leader is the only justification we need. Once again you have this big boogeyman that you have to blame instead of looking at the actions that lead up to all the conflict. Nothing is as black and white as you try to make it and these small terror attacks are nothing. The only thing they truly bring is more bombs down upon you.

Such a boot licker. It's not a bogeyman it's a root cause. Unless this was done just because.
Wouldn't have happened without the petrodollar which exists to buy votes.

So in pursuit of the ideal that the Iraqis could not see, your people not only went down to their level but far beyond it? Because violence is bad? Is that it? It wasn't over the petrodollar or Israel, it was just about killing sand niggers? How does their tribal life in a desert credibly threaten or create a problem for the US?
>>
>>132572785
Yeah, because if a foreign country blew up half your captial, raped your women and torched innocent families, you'd love to join them.

>>
>>132590255
It had to do with a large regional power flexing its muscles against the wrong people, and the tribalism is a breeding ground for anti-intellectualism and religious extremism. Keep trying to push the "if we kill them they win" agenda but it won't work. You can keep thinking the war was about Israel and the petrodollar if you want but it had everything to do with power moves and maintaining or gaining dominance in the region.

"Old CNN" - the same Jews News Network that lied about WMD and started a war for Greatest Ally.
It's still pushing for wars in ME, MUH ASSAD, MUH GAS.

>>
>>132589935
I didn't personally attack anybody mentioned in that. I simply provided evidence that their specific claims were later proven to be false or dubious, which is characteristic of almost all of the evidence presented to the American people about Iraq, its connections to 9/11, and WMD. It's important. We were tricked into a trillion dollar war against an enemy whose threat and connection to 9/11 was dubious at best. There was no victory, only thousands of dead Americans and an obliterated country that became a breeding ground for al-Qaeda and its successors. America is in a strategically weaker position because of the Iraq war. There was no positive result of that war. Yet you're still here, still fucking brainwashed.

He was born in Australia, he was educated in Australia, he formed his attitudes on life and the world from the Australian culture in which he grew up. Eventually he became an American by choice because he, like every other American immigrant, decided that our society is superior to the one he left. But make no bones about it. He's as Australian as it gets.

To put it another way, Murdoch's father was a journalist himself during the first world war. He was at the battle of Gallipoli, which was a stunning defeat for the allied forces. The elder Murdoch broke military censorship rules to publish his account of the battle, which cemented Australian anti-war sentiment and eventually culminated in reforms to the British military system, such as putting Australian officers in command of Australian troops rather than English officers. It doesn't get much more Australian than that.

>>132591078
Your "evidence" was no more than "hurr, she's not a credible person." It's ad hominem, not argument. You also fundamentally fail to understand the Bush doctrine, which for all of its flaws actually works. If the United States is strategically weaker overall from Iraq, that is due to the precipitous withdrawal under the Osama regime which was instituted over military objections and was motivated by no more than one narcissist's obsession with domestic politics at the expense of the sunk cost that had already been paid into that war. But even still, Iraq will stabilize and become more free than it ever was under Saddam, and history will count that war as a victory for America and Americanism overall. You're just too myopic and blinded by anti-Americanism to see it.

What muscles? They didn't have any muscle to flex. These "Wrong people" ARE COMMITING GENOCIDE AND STILL ARE TO THIS DAY Indeed tribalism is not where humanity lives but are you forgetting that they had been independant for less than 100 years?
It was not ever justified and you get what you deserve.

Pls go back. Why are you doing this? You say in the same breath that Obama's withdrawal compromised the mission, but nonetheless Iraq will soon arise from the ashes to be a shining beacon of freedom. If you're not trolling, you're actually a bug person. Your brain has been melted by twenty years of Fox News' mental popcorn. Please PLEASE leave /pol/ and don't come back.

We have General Mattis in the DOD, and he's the guy who really sorted Iraq the last time. The Islamic State is on its heels everywhere it ever made gains. Soon enough Iraq will have peace, and when they start doing well for themselves you had better remember your posts. Remember them, and be ashamed of yourself.

My first 'live CNN experience' was at 15 or so watching the Elián González kid affair. I was watching live from New Zealand when they raided his home and took him. To think that he's now 23.
