Try a fifth of that for a medium estimate. A lot of the famine was due to wartime damage and natural disasters too.

This is utter bullshit. The main times of death in the Stalin era were the 1932-33 famine and the Great Purge (the 1921-22 famine technically occurred before he took power, ending just as he was gaining power). 17 million don't mysteriously die off in unnamed events simply because The Black Book of Communism or some such source said so.
