What can I expect out of this movie based on the trailer? Is it Hollywood trying to push liberal agenda yet again? Was this actually based on a true story?

The dark knight rises came out in 2012. I think that's a good exception.

anything made post-2008 crisis is utter crap
>>

Dude.
I seriously have only seen a handful of movies made in the last decade that I really like.
All made for less than four million dollars.

Give me 20 examples.

>>132527951
which was a shit movie but ok
>>

The only movie made after 2008 that I actually like is Triangle (2009).
Mostly it was an over-the-top homage to my favorite movie ever made.
I think it's a solid 7. Maybe an 8.
Other than that single exception I can't think of any other movies.

I've barely watched any movies that have come out in the past 5 or so years.

Just about everything looks like crap. Remakes, prequels, sequels, reboots -- and on and on and on.

The only main stream movie, post-2008, that gets close to something properly artistic is "Nightcrawler" (2014).
I actually do like it, but it's really just a snapshot of a psychopath.
There's little replay value in it.
Other than, maybe, comparing it to Dr. Robert Hare's "Without Conscience."
Joy and enthusiasm are largely gone from movie-making these days.
Paycheck movies made for merchandising and royalty rights.

Kathryn Bigelow used to make good movies from time to time. Are Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker liberal bullshit? I haven't seen them yet, but the fact that fancy people find them problematic argues in their favor.

I'll add that the feminist reading of Fury Road is utter crap and it was the best movie since Gladiator, and Rogue One, though it was a trick intended to butter us up for Rey's inevitable blacking, was also pretty damned good.

Arrival and Sicario are both incredible, so I'm hoping Blade Runner 2049 will be good. Manchester by the Sea was depressing as fuck but it was a good movie. Moonlight was good for an hour but then went off the rails and ended with a 25 minute long conversation in which nothing whatsoever was communicated by anybody. Nolan continues to make good movies. Gravity was also brilliant.

And it's easy to forget, but there was a whole lot of bad going on before 2008. Arguably all of it for several years.

I liked Manchester by the Sea - few Jews or Jewish over-amping, just realz.
