I own an electric car and you drive the things like your on an economy run constantly because you know once your battery runs out you are fucked, its a 10 hour wait to charge it fully. That will never change because battery technology has been pushed to its limits now, the best we can hope for is the supercharging points are improved to boost the charge time. Also the batteries are done with after about 5 years of use and you have to replace the whole unit.

Its cost about £8 to drive from London to Edinburgh in an electric car. Its the same in a diesel car roughly, except the car will cost you about 10 grand less and you don't need to replace the fuel tank every 5 years.
