Look, I know this is weird coming from a burger, but I genuinely want the USSR to come back.
The problem these past 27 years is that the US has been the de facto leader of the world. One of the fundementals of a free market is competition, which the US currently has none. The US currently has a monopoly on the world.
Just look at what the Cold War brought. It brought us into space. It brought us to the moon. It brought us superior computers. Who knows what else it would have brought had the USSR not fallen?
Here's the thing: carbon emissions have skyrocketed these past 27 years. Without proper competition, the US sees no need to innovate; to change. The US won't just switch to clean energy out of the goodness of its heart, it will only switch to keep its competitive edge.
Furthermore, it's just boring. People are freaking out over some assholes in the desert waving guns around. Americans are acting like terrorists pose an actual threat. Look, the only thing stopping us from squashing ISIS is the fact that we don't want to kill the meatshields their using.
The fact that our country's greatest enemy right now is a group of fundementalist cowards is just sad.
Best case scenario: China gets its shit together and has a major boost in terms of its economy and military. It becomes communist again.
Worst case scenario: US gets too deep into debt and finally has to pay it back. The world's strongest economy will have fallen, and as a result, countless developing nations get fucked over due to their dependency on the US.
