From my experience dealing with poles, it's very much a matter of sovereignty and a rejection of outsiders. Poland was sandwiched between two hostile powers in the second world war that wanted to conquer the both of them. They spent much of the cold war as a Soviet puppet state. As a result, many poles feel that any large torrent of outsiders is an invasion, an usurping of the sovereignty that they fought so hard to keep.

There's also the fact that they hate muslims intensely because of centuries worth of conflict and bad blood. Poles were more or less always on the front lines of any post-crusade conflict with the Muslim world.
