Its fun at first but its too easy to game the system. Once you find the AI flaws you can do ridiculous things.

While it may be fun to play as Great Britain, recall all your overseas troops home, declare war on Italy in 1938, then wipe out Germany by 1940, then go on to take out Russia, then conquer ever last country in the world by 1944, including all of North and South America, using only British troops and with no allies ever, you realize that you have been playing a fantasy game, not a war simulation.

it was, I was only saying that Chivalry had a playerbase before Warband, afterwards everyone just used Warband to play with friends. I was actually thinking about this, earlier M&B had this wave of really intense mods when it first came out, '08-'10. Wild West, Revolutionary War, Fantasy Maps, Classical Period, Napoleonic. Really extensive mods

The later post-Warband modding community did a lot less and then I just remember a couple of "Game of Thrones" mods being done even though there was a really, really good ASOIAF mod from early M&B. All felt really sloppy and unfinished, and they never did get around to completely finishing one off

If you want some cheap indie games, FTL and Darkest Dungeon are pretty dank. Skyrim, (if you haven't played already) Shadow of Mordor, and Dark Souls are nice too. Other than that, just play anything by Blizzard.
