Germany too had a GDP of 14000$ in 1980, despite the fact that all of their industry got wiped out and they had to pay reparations to Yugoslavia and a shitton of other countries. How embarrassing is that?
And then lets look at the really embarassing stats. Bulgaria, which was a total shithole at the time, far worse than any other communist country, is ahead of TIto's Yugoslavia.
How is that possible?

I worked while educating myself and earned more money than I could spend, the standard is simply that high that even as a student you can earn quite enough.

Sure the night life is, emergency services, politics etc. but lets talk about real life, proper life that only the Balkan people understand usually.

You see everything I ate there was bland, the stores were sterile and boring, streets are filled with people you will never see again, the air quality is absolute shit (compared to my hometown), everyone is obsessed with work and sticking their face in the cellphones.

So I came back after I finished education and here I still am, and trust me, the quality of life in my "shitty" little town is eons ahead.

Everything is more relaxed, people are not rushing anywhere, in the morning I wake up to the sound of birds chirping, I get my coffee and enjoy one of the most beautiful sights the nature spat out.
