The automobile to put it simply, though the problem is complex.

What does the city look like after the automobile? Before automobiles cities were dense, walled, small, walk-able, etc. Can we go back to that? Not without sacrificing the hyper-mobility we've become accustomed to. I recently read a book on this, and the solution is going to be complex, and probably not what you'd expect.

Looking too far into it. This is new construction housing done by a single company. You will notice how there are a few designs repeated, these are the models available to the owner. You will also notice the tiny backyards. New construction can be identified by 3 things. Repeating model homes, cheap construction materials, small yards because lot land becomes more expensive for newer construction.

Overall this is very typical. Shitty homes though with no value. You're always better off renovating something from the 70's or earlier if you can find them for a good price. Those houses were built to last. New construction is built to look pretty then fall apart in 10 years.

New? That model of planned communities with subdivisions has been standard for over 30 years. They give the community some stupid name, along with the subdivisions, if they're a rich community it'll be gated, and then there's a clubhouse/rec center that will have a pool, tennis and basketball courts, maybe a gym and indoor party space, etc.

If they're much richer, they'll also be a golf club with expensive green fees, meaning the houses may be actually very affordable, but who wants to drop $50k on mandatory fees you'll never use.
