Assuming you could start your own nation and this nation was somewhat democratic, would you rather it have a unicameral legislature or a Bicameral one?

Is there a downside to bicameral? I think the way we do it in the US provides for a nice array of balance of powers (assuming State-appointed Senators again).

>thinks having a ruling class is democratic
Direct democracy is unicameral.
>>
Bicameral. Upper house like the house of lords, and lower house like the Commons. Lord's are appointed from aristocratic intelligentsia upper class.

Why should the oligarchs be over-represented in government? The only reliable difference between them and the commoners is their wealth and their desire to sacrifice the lives of others to keep it.
Democracy implies equality before the law, kiddo.

it also waters down bills to be next to ineffective at all
>>
>>132294294
Sounds like possibly a bit of a good thing considering most of them shouldn't exist at all.
>>
>>132294435
true. they pass far more than is necessary or required. but that shouldnt exist either.

just becomes legislative entropy.
>>
an argument can be made that we have a tricameral system since the pres can veto

>implying that the legislature would select bills that help the union and the people rather than themselves and their friends

As Executive Orders and administrative rulemakings are sort of like laws and are given the force of law, that argument has some merit.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
