So I asked the pedes over at plebbit the_donald to answer a question. Why is Israel /ourguy/ and the Palestinians not /ourguy/s?
Heres the response I got. Talk about it.
The answer is very simple if you know anything about the region's history.
In 1947 when the British withdrew from the region, the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine proposed creating an independent Jewish state and an independent Arab state (with joint control over Jerusalem) to replace the British mandate. The Arabs (i.e., "Palestinians") rejected this proposal because they did not believe the Jews had any right to sovereignty as a people, and they refused to share the land.
In 1948, literally 1 day after the creation of an independent Jewish state by the United Nations, a coalition of Arab nations invaded Jewish-controlled territory with the explicit intention of destroying the Jewish people once and for all. (Side note: Palestinian leadership was trained both in doctrine and guerilla tactics by former Nazi commandos. See, for example, Otto Skorzeny.) Israeli Jews rallied, however, and beat back the Arab aggressors. This process would repeat many times over the following decades.
Between 1948 and now, the State of Israel has been involved in 17 major military conflicts with their Muslim neighbors. NOT A SINGLE ONE has been initiated by Israel. The bottom line is that the Arab world hates the Jewish people for existing. Muslims do not think Jews have a right to control their own territory, or even to exist independent of Muslim overrule.
part 2: Although Israel gave back most of the territory they conquered from Egypt, Jordan, and Syria following the 6-Day War in 1967 as an overture towards peace, Israel held onto small strips of land in the West Bank, Golan Heights, and Gaza strip for their strategic value. These are the territories currently being contested by "Palestinians" who claim to want independence.
Yet even though the Palestinians had an opportunity to govern their own state in 1947 which they rejected, and even though Israel has made sincere efforts towards peace and economic cooperation in the 90s and early 2000s, the Palestinians have rebuffed them every time.
Unless you are a blind Muslim apologist, the reason is crystal clear. The Arabs do not want to live in peace with Israel. They want Israel to be destroyed. All their actions over the last 70 years have been 100% consistent with that conclusion. Israel, on the other hand, is legitimately interested in peace. Jews do not believe Muslims should be destroyed as infidels, the way Muslims feel about Jews/Christians.
I hope that answers your question as to why the Palestinians are unquestionably the "bad guys" in all this. Everything they do and say is a lie, and their consistent naked aggression belies their truly malevolent intentions.
