Curious, because I would like to see a return to true conservative principles that fall more under the umbrella of populism these days.

The family is the corner stone of civilization. So I think that we should start by saying any policy, from Liberals or "Conservatives" that work against the family are bad.

This includes identity politics and profligacy on the Left and NeoCon crony capitalism on the Right.

Outsourcing, unchecked immigration, wearing property and privacy rights, gun control, tax shelters, the swamp, selling of public lands, pollution, globalism all of these are bad because they are at odds with the establishment of strong families.

Some of these are Leftwing and some are Rightwing. Doesn't matter. They are bad.

This is what the Conservative movement needs most: a very clear and simple moral and logical position to hold. Abstract ideas like "the free market" or "Christianity" or "small government" are not as effective because they are open to interpretation and differing opinions. Does "small government" include the largest and most powerful armed forces on the globe? No. But the armed forces are important for our safety, because the American families need to be safe. It is a better ideal.
