You grew up.
This is what I think of when someone mentions 2007.

Wasn't that around the time when the iPhone and other smartphones like you see today became a thing? I remember around 2007-2008 Facebook became big, and then that was followed by Twitter.
2007 was also when the bottom began falling out in the economy. We also were about at the height of being sick of being in the Middle East. Iraq started going way downhill in 2006 and by 2007 we were done with the Bush Admin's shitshow over there.

Banks: Hey, let us loan to people who can't pay it back so they can buy homes and stuff. The economy will be great, everything will be great.
Gubbmint: Great idea, you now have to provide loans to people who can't pay them back.
Economy: Sounds real fucking neato
Banks: Hey, remember how we asked you to let us loan to people who couldn't pay it back, and then you did, and we made like a shitton of money?
Gubbmint: Yeah man
Banks: Well like a lot of them defaulted and, basically we need like trillions of dollars
Gubbmint: Oh shit man
Banks: Don't worry, the media we own is keeping silent
Gubbmint: I don't know about this man, this is fucked up. It's kind of like you gambled and lost a bunch of money, and now you want trillions of dollars you didn't earn to cover your own losses.
Banks: Give it to us, or we'll crash the whole fucking economy again
Gubbmint: Fffffffuuuuuuu alright man, just keep it silent.
Banks: We own the media dipshit.

2007 is when the atheist retards exploded. That brought in wacky feminists and all the other garbage we are dealing with today. 2006 was pretty good though.

The significance of the advent of the smartphone in particular should not be underestimated. This completely changed the game for control of your mind. Once people could have internet access anywhere at any time, the scales completely tipped out of the traditional media's favor. Astroturfing and spread of memes online became the primary means of control.

>Once people could have internet access anywhere at any time
to be fair, this started in 2000 with the T-Mobile Sidekick phone. The complete lack of popups and the simpler layout of the web pack then made it a godly porn device, from my point of view. But anyways, the smartphone had existed technically, its integration with social had not. Just wanted to throw that out there.
I remember a lot of people with things like the super slim Razor phones thinking they were hot shit, meanwhile my several year old phone had baller-ass bondage porn on it, and I was looking up video game reviews and price-checking in stores while browsing, and was the only one doing it.
The bursting of the sub-prime mortgage bubble began in 2007 - the first sign is often attributed to February 7th 2007 when HSBC warned that the cost of its writedowns would be 20% higher than expected.
But I disagree that 2007 was the start of the bad times. Really they began in 1971 after Nixon "temporarily" suspended the final pillar of the Gold Standard (the Bretton Woods system). Since then everything has gone to shit for your average guy.
The ONLY way back to true prosperity is a return to the Gold Standard. Nothing else matters.
