Are all the /pol/sters who claim to be Christian actually following their faith?

Do you actually participate in your faith? Do you regularly attend Church services? When was the last time you actually cracked open the Holy Bible and read from it and prayed over it's meaning?

This a reminder that if you don't go to Church, if you don't read your Bible, you aren't really a Christian. Your faith is weak.

How can you ever expect your faith to mean anything, either to yourself or anyone else, if you don't actually participate?

>if you don't read your Bible, you aren't really a Christian

What will become of the vast majority of Christians throughout history who never read the bible?
>>
>>132234681
It's a totally different thing if there are no churches in your area. Reading the Bible for yourself is really, at least in my opinion, the best way to get in touch with your faith.

While it would be good to be able to attend services regularly, if you can't, you can't really be blamed.

You must not be from the US if there is a lack of protestant congregations around, either that or live in a rural area serviced only by a Catholic church.

I'm lucky enough to live in a state with a massive amount of churches (for our population). In fact, if my facts are correct, my state (Mississippi) has the highest amount of churches per capita of any other state in the country.

Sad to hear you can't find a church to suit your needs. Maybe you could go to seminary school and start your own church?
>>

>t. doesnt understand the bible so he changes it the way it fits him
>>
>>132235044
It was a hyperbolic statement. Rather, I should have said: your faith will become stronger through reading the Bible for yourself.

Also most of the people throughout history were illiterate. They can't be blamed for trusting in some one else to read/preach the word of God to them.

Just tried to make an inflammatory OP to get a thread going.

How do we change the Bible you retard? Because we read it ourselves and know what's it about instead of listening to pedophiles in dresses? Read the doctrines of catholic church and you will see how your priests manipulate the Bible to fit their agenda.

From what I understand of christianity, it's a sin to ever attack someone.

For example, a satanic pedophile can kill and abuse children, and murder anyone investigating him, but it would be a sin for a christian to murder this hypothetical person.

Christianity seems to be a religion that allows for abuses by those with power and influence to go unmet because doing anything effective BACK is a sin. By all means you can defend yourself against elite assassination teams with 20 years experience murdering hajji's in the sandbox, but if you pre-emptively attempt to do anything about assassination squads or satanic pedophiles, it's sin.

How/when/where does christianity ever endorse violence?

Can christians literally do nothing against indirect violence against them?
>>
>>132238088
>le other cheek meme
We can't be aggressors but we MUST protect ourselves and our faith.
>>
>>132238267
>>132238088
killing another person is a sin and if you kill some1 that was doing bad things you should feel sorry because he was just human
christians are encouraged not to sin
but if you are forced to kill and then go to a confession because you feel bad for killing a fellow human i dont think you are doomed to hell
>>
>>132238267
It's not le other cheek meme

I'm asking when christianity can be pre-emptively violent and it seems like it cannot.

Which means christians will always be at the mercy of those plotting against them but who do no direct observable violence or damage. For example, demographic replacement of christians. It's indirect, it will eventually wipe out christianity, but christians cannot and will not do anything violent to stop it, while those enacting demographic replacement always have this option and will use it whenever possible.

When you cannot use violence against your enemies, your enemies win.

Even courts and judges require the use of violence to arrest and keep people in jail.

>>132238610
First off, you can't wipe out christianity. We can't us violence against our enemies as long as they don't want to kill us. At the judgement day, God will take his believers to heaven and punish all sinners, it's up to him, not us.

>>132238776

Im a sinner, the least of all believers .
Converting to Orthodoxy as soon as i find a church, RC my whole life, got basic soul knowledge but it left me wanting, i wandered off, became ill and tried suicide, about a week later in the mental hospital, i found a belt in a patients room and took it, I decided that the next day was the day to finish it (late at night the nurses check constantly).

Funny thing, had a prophetic dream,
>symbolism overload.jpeg
I woke up and (just read Erkhart Tolle, PoN"

>born again christian

relapsed into sin, got kidnapped and ended up mental again. Tried to return to RC, I couldn't balance what they taught and what I (felt) I knew. Then I found out about Orthodoxy and the fire is burning once again.

So how do you deal with someone wiping out christianity and christians indirectly?

How do you deal with a guy who hires someone else to murder christians? How do you deal with a guy pushing ostensibly non-violent demographic replacement that still results in the elimination of christians and christianity?

From my point of view Christian morality does not appear to allow proactive measures to prevent suffering and death. Only reactionary.
>>
>>132235795
I don't think 1 Timothy 2:12 necessarily needs to be interpreted as a divine command. IIRC 1 Timothy is a letter from Paul to Timothy advising him on how best to run a church. So "Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." is more reflective of Paul's thoughts than God's. Women tend to be easier led astray so they need to be watched fairly closely if speaking to large bodies of churchgoers.
tl;dr I belive Women probably shouldn't be church leaders, but should be allowed to talk so long as they aren't confusing others.

yes to all and the funny thing is, the fact that I live in such a liberal, degenerate area of the world only strengthens my resolve.

I hope and pray for a day when Christianity returns to its former glory, but unfortunately everyday it seems that we're actively trying to speed up the apocalypse, so at this point I just try to live through him with those that I care about in the hope that we will be ready when the time comes.

I can honestly say I would die for my faith at any point.

Possibly because with Jesus you already know what's right and what's wrong. You should probably follow one hundred commandments if you truly want to be good.

While I agree that going to Church is important and good, it's also important to remember that the Church is the body of Christ, the people, not a building, and we worship and pray every day not just on Sunday.

It's not some routine we do to "remain Christians", you remain a Christian by dying daily and crucifying your flesh daily, submitting to God and obeying Jesus.

Remember it's Jesus who saves, not the Bible, not the priest, and not a building or a routine. The more important question to ask in my opinion is, do you have a relationship with Jesus?

That being said, I was just reading the Gospel of Luke again, good stuff :)

One of the most powerful cities in history, also had nothing going for it in the beginning. At first look it was not supposed to succeed. Unlike other towns in the region like Lucca, Pisa, and Siena, Florence did not have a shoreline, so no sea trade like the Venetians, it did not have direct acess to trade routes on the land. It did not have any immediate access to natural resources, and it had limited agricultural production capabilities. Yet in spite of this it became one the largest cities in Europe with 120,000 living there. And outside of Rome itself, it was the wealthiest city and the greatest source of Renaissance art. The Florin was the American Dollar of the day.

Florence has little to no records of transactions until about the early 1100s, probably because of high taxes. Before this Merchants in Florence would use proxy towns in the surrounding area like Pisa, Lucca, and Siena to do business, where there are plenty of records of contracts and banking loans. But suddenly the same years that transactions took place in Florence the 1st walls of Florence were built (paid for by taxes). Florence made most of it's money selling wool and silk, and interest on banking loans. From the Levant, to all of Western Europe, and North Africa, it was the bank of Kings and Popes. Florence was where the Medici lived, who practically ruled all of Europe, and with their peers, they financed the entire Renaissance. It was the Medici that found and funded great artists like Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Fra Angelico, Pietro Perugino, Donatello, and Leonardo da Vinci, and 4 Popes were from that family.

1) You are not required to donate money, especially when you're broke.
2) Over time, you will make good friends there. Going to church is probably the best way to socialize.

Revenge of the Goy
Their power slowly increased from the 1100s to 1500s, with a brief ShekelShoah right before the Black Plague in the mid 1300s. But after the black plague the Merchants they prospered bc God took care of the filthy goyim. Then suddenly something happened. In the 1500s trade contracted, kings stopped doing taking out loans, cities refused to commerce with Florence and dozens of other Merchant cities in Italy that also financed the Renaissance. At first it was in Northern Germany, and England but then it spread all through out Europe, until Florence totally shut down all it's banking and trading to Italy exclusively, except for certain places in Spain, France, and the city of Amsterdam. They were so skilled and YET in spite of overcoming every obstacle, especially early on, it became a husk of it's former glory all in a single century. The very same century as the Protestant Reformation. You see Protestants hated to commerce with Roman Catholics or Jews altogether. Suddenly all these patrons of the arts were without money to fund the Renaissance, so the Renaissance ended, choking them out in competition all over Europe until Florence had no power to even outsell Protestant made fabrics in their own city. This was the Great Shekel War with the Business Goy and his Reforming friends and the Merchant lost, so the Renaissance had to be shut down. This was the second ShekelShoah of this age. So they packed up their bags and sailed all over the seven seas taking their florins and shekels with them. This commenced the Golden Age of Piracy in 1600 and 1700s.

>am I semi-forced to donate like tip in a restaurant or is it *really* up to you
Absolutely not. The pastor usually will speak when the trays go out, a good pastor will tell people not to donate if they are broke or need help themselves, they will ask for donations from people who have the means. That's what it's been like in my experience.

Sometimes, not regularly and almost randomly - when I think over Bible verses or just pray and emotions decide to overcome.

I've been an atheist all my life till a couple years ago

The first time I genuinely asked for forgiveness, I felt like I got it. I felt relieved, saved. I was back home. That was an incredible moment, especially because of my atheist background. no actual physical presence though
>>
>Do you actually participate in your faith?
Yes, christian catholicism

>Do you regularly attend Church services?
Every sunday and some laboural days

>When was the last time you actually cracked open the Holy Bible and read from it and prayed over it's meaning?
I do not open a Bible since more or less 1 or 2 years. You have to know that at the mass we listen to the lectures that are from the Bible.

Good to hear. Cant stand "Christianitys over yadayada" they justcant see and feel it, its disheartening at times but Corinthians says God created the non believers so we would know what we have in our hearts.

Probably just need to toughen up a bit, but the amount of neo-pagan and satanist LARPers really depresses me. Why?(said everyone ever) why do (I,We) get this gift, and then I see people having abortions (brazen about it aswell) and everybody just using each other like dildos. and we have the (Burden? Once I was troubled with nightly sleep paralysis and false awakenings, the details are unimportant but they always felt troubling. I had been reflecting on faith a little in this period, with an increasing awareness of evil in the world, where once I might have sought a psycho/sociological explanation for these deeds. Falling asleep one night in a perfectly normal mood I had a vision of heaven which I felt more than I saw, an ecstatic kind of feeling in my heart. I did not suffer any sleep paralysis after this.

Id love to eventually write it out by hand, but just notes so far.

St. Columba
Idle then is a religion decorated with prostrations of the body, equally idle is the mere mortification of the flesh, and the hollow devotion of the outward man, unless it be accompanied by a fruitful moderation of the mind. What use is it for the passions to be assailed by a servant, when they are found to be in league with the master? Then, lest perhaps we should labour without fruit, let us take pains to be freed from our vices by God's help, that thereafter we can be adorned with virtues. Thus let us cleanse ourselves as far as we are able from every taint of vices, from pride first, from ill-will, from anger, from blasphemy, from injustice, from spite, from melancholy, from vain glory, from covetousness, from malice, from all bitterness; that we may be possessed by lowliness, gentleness, kindness, courtesy, sobriety, mercy, justice, joy, and love.

I have always been an atheist although I did go through the more anti-theist stage in earlier life. I always understood evil for what it is and never denied it's existence as I grew up in an objectivist house hold if you will. However, it is this idea of evil that has been causing me to look into Christianity more. I am on my first serious read of the Bible where I am not looking to debunk it but to think on it's metaphysics and meaning more. This has been eye opening I am finding very individualistic and even sometimes objectivist meaning in the book. I am starting to think that as a youth I was propagandized against it and believed that propaganda. To any other atheists read it, and not just the words, think abou the meaning in them.
I had a really good discussion with an anon last week about the parable of the talents. On the surface it looks awful but it's theme was something very positive.

It is worthwhile looking into for sure. I wish more of those those who admit a rise in evil in the world would correlate it with the decline and systematic destruction of this faith. Americans particularly who still express doubt about it should look into the man Scofield to help make sense of their false perception of the book. If only the evangelicals would do the same.

I think the destruction of faith is intentional, I think there was a Russian guy who talks about this. That with out faith there are masses of people who would not understand evil, or if we are getting into the modern intellectual, claim it does not even exist.
I think at least from what little I know about the Bible right now there are a few points that I found very interesting and important.Evil exists, all men are capable of it (Original Sin, the beast within) but even so there is something divine in us (God or Ego), that we can use to judge and curtail evil.
On a side note the idea of individual salvation is quite interesting to me as well. The idea that only you can save yourself that it is something you have to except and maintain. I like that, it's putting the responsibility on each of us to work for our future on earth and in heaven.

As a Catholic the Bible is read every week at church; the sacraments are imperative for spiritual well being. Protestantism fails because or sola scriptura and a life lacking true sacraments... Being Christian is a real physical thing that also implicates society, politics, economics and law.
