I think this is a mix of things; the rampant momentum of degeneracy of the 70's kicked in. Things got taken too far, as they always do in youth culture. And you had bigger and bigger audiences that were there just for the rock n roll party of it. The band themselves fell victim to this. VIsion gave way to the comfort of belonging and being in the blur of hedonism for novelty's sake.

I think a certain amount of deconditioning is a healthy impulse. Psychedelics do that, they deprogram & decondition you. But taken too far, you have people who are structureless, lacking in any focal point or organizing principles.The trick is to receive all the wisdom, insight, and creativity that comes from a deconditioned state and apply it to create a much more optimal way of organizing oneself.

There was a lot of that in the 70's & 80's-- people who deconditioned themselves too much and never took up a new focal point. By the 90's, it was an acceptable meme and culture in it's own right. As someone who has been there, I can say that there is a significant amount of low self esteem involved in that world.

I've been doing intermittent fasting for a few week, only eating during the afternoon and evening, and swimming 2k every morning. I'm planning on getting back to the gym. I've already lost two inches off my waist, and load of weight in fat. I've cut liquids outside of water, which I'm drinking much more of, and I actually feel like something for the first time in forever. I'm still like 60 pounds from a healthy weight for my height, but still, 240 is still much better than 260. Scared to death and scared to look.

I'm 18. I'm glad i got my redpills in early. Childhood was nonsense, average divorcee family with separated liberal arty father and severely maladjusted bipolar mother. Lived with both for a period of time. Now i am off to college. Luckily my major is one of the good ones (accounting) and I have a tution plan so I do not have to pay. I lift weights nearly every day and am soon to go out for a run. I'm about 8/10 but despite these positive characteristics, the spooks I have bottled and collected have been running their course for a very long time. I'm in the process of shaping the world around me but I just don't know. I don't feel like I am standing on firm ground, like many mention in this thread the moral fabric of my peers and of my parent's generation is tattered, to say the least. Role models aren't very plentiful. So I'm attempting to become one myself. It is necessary to cease all drug use and increase test levels (being a man), but this is what i struggle with. I roll my own cigarettes which i indulge in daily. Maybe alcohol once a week. In any case, enough meandering. I am glad that we are being fucking sincere for once, my friends. Sometimes the jokes aren't very funny anymore.
