And as an atheist, the sad reality is that we have no unity. We're lost. Like a bunch of bumbling buffoons wandering around trying to figure out how to get back on the road.

I've developed a new found appreciation for Christianity, even though I may not believe it. The things our ancestors did in the name of it, both good and bad, paved the road for everything we have today. The architecture, the art, the gregorian chant, the stained class and the painted ceilings, all of it is thanks to Christianity. And it's sad to see it go.

Well, we know the first historical, written instance of Christians conversing with the "righteous dead" is Jesus Himself. He conversed with Moses and Elijah at the Transfiguration; Moses was most certainly dead, Elijah was 'taken up' before his death.

The theology of the cult of saints is simple. When one is dead in Christ, they are more radically united to Christ than we are. There is no Scripture or Tradition that states that we are separate from the saints in heaven; but that the Church in Heaven is one and the same with the Church on earth.

Thus, we ask the saints who are closer to God than us to pray for us and petition God for our needs, in addition to us directly asking God.

He came to lose hope that he could not live up to the spiritual and corporal works that Christ Himself spoke about; thus he formulated a theology that removed their necessity. To justify this, he even dared to alter Scripture (Romans 3:28) and remove entire books of the bible.

There is only God. The Second Person of the Trinity is Jesus Christ, who existed before He was born of the Holy Ghost to the Virgin Mary; equally and completely God and man.

I actually went and did the research concerning the abuse crisis. The John Jay College report of 2012 to the USCCB showed that 81% of the abuse was sodomite in nature. The three major insurance companies that insure for child abuse report that Protestant abuse is just as bad as Catholic, and that secular abuse is 8 times worse than Catholic and Protestant combined.

Also, 65% of the data is unavailable to the public because those insurance claims are considered proprietary to the individual protestant churches. So we have a crisis much larger within Protestant communities for the sheer fact that around 10% of all of them actually report their numbers, and to those that do, is almost identical to abuse in Catholic setting.
