Why don't we adopt it? Literally better than the metric system, even a stupid fuck can easily convert to it. It is far superior and easier.

Laugh about irrelevancy of my country all you want but it never happened to me that cashier would look confused at you when you give him 12 bucks and 50 cents when he asks for 11 bucks and 50 cents, in America they simply don't get that you want a one dollar bill and not shitty coins, some retards even thinks it's a tip.

The metric system was only invented because frogs wanted the length of their cock to sound bigger.

Saying that imperial units are arbitrary is like saying that it’s arbitrary for a coat to have two sleeves.

1/8th of a bong is still the same thing as as 1/7th of a bong, at sea level, in a vacuum, squared.

That's not the reason - it just makes far more sense to derive the unit of length via a natural constant rather than something ambiguous. The meter is still the meter, just the formal definition changed.

Time will only be metricised if we become a space faring race at which point measuring time to a scientific standard would become more usefull than measuring it to the rotation speed of the earth. Rotation speed of the earth could be metricised but it would be ugly. Personally id prefer a global shift to base 8 measurement for everything, including time.

All mathematical systems are arbitrary. They're all made up of standard units of measurements in order to have uniformity.

Yeah.
That's why one Astronomical Unit (The astronomical unit (symbol au, or ua is a unit of length, roughly the distance from Earth to the Sun. However, that distance varies as Earth orbits the Sun, from a maximum (aphelion) to a minimum (perihelion) and back again once a year. Originally conceived as the average of Earth's aphelion and perihelion, it is now defined as exactly 149597870700 metres (about 150 million kilometres, or 93 million miles))).

is a constant.

Imagine how much it would cost the US GOVT and businesses to convert to metrics. Every road sign in America would have to from mph to km and from miles to kms. What about milk carton? What would it cost to change all the machining and packaging from quart to litre or half gallon to 2 litre bottles? Now apply that to all beverage companies in the USA. Food manufacturers as well convert all packaging from ounces to grams and retool the manufacturing line to ensure proper weight in the new packaging. Tape measures. Rulers. Yardsticks. The timber industry. 2 x 4 becomes a 50mm x 100mm. And on and on.
The simple answer is, it costs too much $$$ to change.

Base 8 is better due to the fact that it is divisible by 2 all the way back to 1. Crircles are also naturally divided into eights by continuosly halving the whole.
There exists advocates for base 12 as it is divisble by 2,3,4 and 6, but tge simplicity of the system breaks down when an odd number is produced by mathemeatical computation. It is also un natural to divide a circle into 12. 0,3,6,9,0 divisions on a clock face fit nicely but 1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11 are autistic.
In short base 8 is the simplist and quickest number system for the human brain to comprehend. 10 and 12 arent bad though.

A furlong is 1/8th of a mile, or 660 feet.
A chain is 1/80th of a mile, or 66 feet.
An acre is one chain by one furlong.

Back to the point, why is metric "better"?

Is it more accurate?
Is it tied to a universal constant? (when it was created, not a bullshit retcon)
Or, as I suspect, is it just another random measurement?

Keep in mind that one AU is now defined as exactly 149597870700 meters, nevermind that the Earth has an elliptical orbit; metricfags decided that the average was good enough.

And, nevermind that the distance from the Earth to the sun has fuckall to do with universal constants.

It's better, because Metric System!

It's better because it's easier to calculate between units and it is more wide spread. Yes, any definition is arbitrary, whether a foot is that way because it's the length of some king's cock or a meter because the manlet who invented it was that tall. But unlike imperial, in metric other things are not arbitrary. A kilometer is 1000 meters and a kiloliter 1000 liters. On your imperial side you have an extra level of arbitrary retardation: a mile is 5637 whatever feet and a gallon is 128 ounces???

Antarctica is Atlantis.
Atlantis used to be in the Atlantic Ocean (thus the name Atlantic Ocean). Due to climatic changes, it got flooded and thus "sank" into the water. Later, when it was already under water, it moved to the south (research Charles Hapgood's "Shifting Crust", a theory backed bei Einstein). During this movement, it slightly rose again. Still being covered in thin water however, the water froze due to the cold temperatures of the South Pole. Now, Atlantis is still a sunken island. The water just turned to ice. That's all there is to the mystery.
Governments of the entire world have interests in Atlantis out of various reasons. Old civilisations, "New Swabia", some other occult shit, possible natural resources and so on. You know the rest I guess.

we have in every scientific and medical cause in the USA. We also have in many ways, by just adding it to the vocabulary. Hence, why we buy our soda in 2 LITER, and our milk in GALLONs.
Basically we DO use metric where it matters, and don't, when we see no practical need. It's just practicality.
You might as well ask why we still use $1 bills. Things don't have to be 100% logical, to still be the best choice. Logic is not the be all, end all, especially for minor things such as how you measure your butter.
>>

I do have to admit tipping has gotten fucking Jewed out the ass in America. Most restaurants in NYC now expect 30% as standard, and 20% is seen as an insult. It's funny watching old movies when they talk about 10% being a big tip...
That's also not including 80 fucking taxes too, so your "2 for $19.99" meal is actually about $30 when you look at the receipt.

Name one country in the world that has different systems depending on where you go in the country? If the US switched systems, letting each state do it separately and only if they want to is a disaster. States are not like countries, you can't just say they are the same. In Europe when they were all changing over time to the metric system, it was separate countries changing, not states in each country.

The US has adopted the metric system. The national standards for US uses weights that are metric standards. They still use the kilogram duplicate from the 19th century. All they do is place a conversion factor in front of it.

>shekel

Also
>thumb is a different size between different people
>foot (measurement) is way longer than a foot (body part) nothing natural there

Problem with these units is they're a pain in the ass when you're trying to calculate them relative to things measured in other units. Metric is easy divide or times 10 but fuckups based on making calculations in the US system have cost billions

It's also based on what people were raised in. Since Canada is a clusterfuck of old and new units still I find miles feet and degreesF to be a completely alien language compared to kilometres metres centimetres and degreesC but since in my area we still use pounds for fucking everything I find weight in pounds comes more naturally to me than Kg

One switch i think should be made in the US is to Celsius. It's actually more relatable to real life since 0 Celsius is the freezing point of water you can actually imagine the feel of the temperature based on that things like if it's - degrees outside in the morning I know to watch for ice while driving etc but the Ferinheit system I have no idea what that's based on

Nigger, not even close. Every time I try to get an estimate of a measurement with my thubms, it ends up being completely wrong. Same for feet since I hve huge feet. The only reason why you morons can't get an intuitive feel to the system, is because you have have never used it before. I know approximately how far a meter or kilometer is. I also get the advantage of easily converting between the two.
>>
>>132209995
Why doesn't the US just make metric a "legal" unit of measurement? Wouldn't even cost them fuck all just write a law saying "it's legal to use metric for speedometers and trade and selling gas and such" and let people be free to want to use metric if they want
I can't even drive my car with custom gauge set up to the US without changing the speedometer insert to a MPH one because mine is usually in KPH only. Just because the speedometer isn't in miles they were gonna turn me back at border for having a vehicle that wasn't street legal
