No not really, but it depends.
I trusted Obama and I trust my governor, but I don't trust Republicans or most democrats.

My lack of trust in politicians comes from I think a lot of them are too stupid for me to trust and republicans are just whores for money, I'm not rich enough to buy a sense of trust with them
