What is wrong with townspeople?

They live too close to one another and are too close to differentials in wealth because our societies, believe it or not, are too equal. Seeing all this perceived inequality has a greater effect on crime and resentment than actual inequality.

What I find ironic is this even works even if you're benefiting from this system, plenty of discontent middle class kids and the inequality they see are people half the time poorer wasting money.

Spengler noticed well that masses are the antithesis to hierarchy.

The masses try to differentiate themselves from others because their uprooted role does not differentiate them from anyone else. Perhaps that is the reason they seek to be "different" and take up political activism. They are fundementally unfulfilled.

People living in rural areas on the other hand know precisely what they are to do. They know their land, they know their livestock and they are most likely doing exactly what their ancestors are doing.

So, for townsfolks, ideology is merely a rebelion against belonging to undifferentiated masses.

Also, why do you think AI solves all problems? It solves things we know one solution to decently and it solves things we have a wide solution space for amazingly, literally every problem without a current solution cannot be solved by AI. That's not how AI works.

well my thoughts are that for humanity the best way forwards is to remove political power from human hands and give it to an impartial AI that once set up could not be tampered with (wishful thinking but we can all dream, right?) something like a benevolent God that wouldn't coddle us or screw us over for no reason, kinda like the Humanitae in Stargate, Alterans and all that shit
