A leaf does not represent a country:

-The current flag does not represent the founding people or even the current people
-The current flag does not pay any homage or note any history of Canada
-A plant does not respect actual borders of a nation, meaning you can find maple leafs in other nations

-Since it does not represent the people, history, traditions, or politics of Canada, it is really just a fucking cute logo. We have the same issue with our anthem, which really just says "wow we love Canada" but does not say why and it does not provide any historic examples of when we created or defended the land.
