The christian world has never been under attack this much, even during the early muslim conquests. Churches are burned, its religion blasphemed and shamed throughout the world, Christian missionaries crucified/beheaded, etc. It would be somewhat plausible that in the future, there could be a Christian state in some form. Atleast another organization protecting christian travellers, missionaries, and Churches like the Knights Templar did.

Well you can argue if kingdom of Jerusalem wouldn't have fallen, the europeans(mostly french) would finish their colonisation of Levant.
