I lived in Qatar for 2 years AMA

They managed to build all those building with natural gas money, it's their main export and oil is like 20%. The only thing they won't tell you is 80% of those skyscrapers are empty offices. Just rows of empty buildings, no busy streets, and dead silent sidewalks. All of the skyscrapers were built with natural gas money and are full of luxury high end offices and apartments waiting to be purchased by investors. I can prove it too, notice how there aren't any parking buildings in the entire city? and how the buildings abruptly end? It's because the on the ground parking lots outside the skyscrapers are sufficient.

They are accusing them of terrorism but in reality they are a valuable asset who have contacts with terrorist groups but hence can act as a middle man and broker hostage exchanges and such. (according to military people i knew anyway)

A lot of the towers near the water (closest to camera) are apartment buildings. That area is called "West Bay" and is mostly occupied by expats.
