An ideal societal system is only possible either acknowledging humans are not ideal so some competitive/conflict is necessary or by actually socially engineering humanity until hierarchies aren't really a thing.

That last goal sounds Marxist only distantly, Marxism is not internally consistent, a society without hierarchy is the end goal but the intermediary means to this end is exactly creating hierarchies.

Idealism means perfect states, they're not meant to actually exist.

Human history is just about technological progress and social revolution. That's it. Imperfect systems being replaced by other imperfect systems. But usually those at the bottom gain some things that they're after. Some more scraps from the table. But society remains hierarchical, of course, like it always has done and always will do, by the sheer fact of the matter that all humans are NOT born equal (some are born short and stupid and ugly and weak, some are born tall and clever and handsome and strong, and that's just how it is).
