To be intellectually honest, I have to say that Christianism in its catholic version can be a pretty rationalistic philosophy, it is just that the mass of the faithful are so ignorant that they defy their own doctrine and tradition.
Personally I agree with theologist that describe god as the greek logos and logic and reason as the main tools to knowing the world.
Unfortunately, many believers are to dumb to even start reading about theology, so it is a discussion I usually can't even start doing.

Pope Ratzinger referred to the Christian religion as the religion of the Logos:
"Christianity must always remember that it is the religion of the "Logos." It is faith in the "Creator Spiritus," (Creator Spirit), from which proceeds everything that exists. Today, this should be precisely its philosophical strength, in so far as the problem is whether the world comes from the irrational, and reason is not, therefore, other than a "sub-product," on occasion even harmful of its development or whether the world comes from reason, and is, as a consequence, its criterion and goal.
