It is the only chance. Because they have a strong tradition of free speech and there is a subgroup who is actually 'aware' in the US.

I think this has to do partly with their history of dealing with blacks, that others don't have. When the establishment says everyone is exactly the same, many Americans understand that the establishment is not telling the truth, so they have developed a natural suspicion of their elite that doesn't exist elsewhere.

In contrast Canadians respect authority and assume it's working in it's peoples interests. This may have been true in the past, but there is a new global elite 'type' who is not democratic. They see the public as an obstacle and themselves as a sort of enlightened aristocracy.

Americans (some Americans anyway) have a natural antipathy towards this type of leader. And some even have the foresight to see that there is going to be conflict - and they are actually preparing. I don't see that anywhere else other than the US at this point.

I forget the name but some guy wrote book in the 60'-70's called 'The Paranoid type in American Politics' There is a paranoid type, but it's looking more like the Paranoid may end up proven correct.
