people tend to subconsciously try to confirm the first opinion that they formed on something, not disprove it. information that people receive after forming the first opinion is viewed in relation to the first opinion they made, which they believe is valid. it is a seriously uphill battle to change that default valid perception.

that is why every government spends thousands per year to indoctrinate its population at the earliest possible age with the preferred gospel - it's got a large return on investment.
