Fantastic book.
"A career in flying was like climbing one of those ancient Babylonian pyramids made up of a dizzy progression of steps and ledges, a ziggurat, a pyramid extraordinarily high and steep; and the idea was to prove at every foot of the way up that pyramid that you were one of the elected and anointed ones who had the right stuff and could move higher and higher and even-ultimately,God willing, one day-that you might be able to join that special few at the very top, that elite who had the capacity to bring tears to men’s eyes, the very Brotherhood of the Right Stuff itself.”

Bought these two today. I walked through the door of the book store and right in front of the door I was greeted by a Life Rune.

Currently reading "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" by HP Lovecraft as part of my Lovecraft collection. Reading it as a break from "Le Morte D'Arthur," which is interesting to read due to ye olde english, but is actually a little boring. I find it interesting, however, that today most heroic tales have freedom as their aim, while freedom has not been mentioned at all in Le Morte. Most knights fight for honor and glory.

Several books about China. Last was 'wild swans'. I'd seen this around, but been put off, thought it looked like a chick's book. Anyway, I read it. Quite good, and sticks to the facts. Scanning parts of 'bodymind', Dychtwald, Ken, which is relevant to my interests. Books on stretching. Books on english grammar. Usually supplement anything good with online research and video. More stuff on China. Just cracked a book by Christopher Hyatt that I've previously been unable to tackle.

I read this book like seven years ago in high school. It's basically Anne Frank's Diary except the chick who wrote it is still alive. It's also pretty believable since the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot were commies so mass exterminating them isn't that far fetched. It was an interesting read though

same. my father has a ton of old american books I will inherit some day. a lot of them are unavailable digitally though. -.-

"The Ventures" book on the 2nd row, 4th from the right, is worth hundreds of dollars. I have seen copies go for over $1000. my dad has 8 copies of it, gifted me one.

I can't get motivated to read anymore, what do? I get bored with books quite easily - I often feel childish reading fiction (don't mean this to sound fedorable, it just feels weird to read about imaginary worlds/events), and there isn't really anything I have a deep enough interest in to justify reading non-fiction. The last book I finished was Brothers Karamazov about a year ago.

>Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche
I'm about halfway through this. It's really inspiring, and reveals a very attractive view of atheism that's actually pretty tempting.
>Mythology by Edith Hamilton
Just started this today. From what I can tell it focuses on European mythology, but mostly Greek mythology.
>Africa's World War by Gerard Prunier
I started this about a week ago. It's really brutal. It talks about the Rwandan genocide and the Second Congo War that follows afterwards.

After I finish a couple of these I plan to start reading some fashy books.

For the bookworms on /pol/, I highly recommend getting a kindle.

>buy kindle
>download (i-tunes type program)
>pirate books

Enjoy free books for the rest of your life.
I read Manga on mine.

No time for novels. Not between work, sleep, eating, browsing /pol/, and a bit of vidya. If there's something important to learn, I get it through a summary, or the philosophy from which the lesson is derived.

Kindle is easier on the eyes in the long run and it's portable, you know, like a book. It's kinda amazing how much the kindle makes the text look like printed text from an actual book

It will take some time to get through this, but I figured it'd be a fruitful project nonetheless.
