> [The evil locusts] were told not to damage the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were allowed to torture them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torture was like the torture of a scorpion when it stings someone. And in those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them

a semi-modern book that I love is The Power Broker, by Caro.
It's about Robert Moses. He ruled New York City and to a degree NY state, and Long Island, for several decades.
He built Jones Beach, which people still love, the Cross Bronx Expressway, which people still hate, the Verazono Narrows Bridge, which is still awesome, along with a multitude of other NY landmarks.
When he died, most people hated him
Years later, people would say, "at least he got things done".

Books are becoming more and more obsolete in this internet age.
It's easier for the brain to pick up small morsels of information, of little - but sufficient - detail, as we can accurately interpret the detail later in our brains. The internet allows this, but books do not.
That is why books are becoming obsolete: they can not possibly compete against the power and freedom of the internet!

>Books are becoming more and more obsolete in this internet age.
Laughably untrue. The book publishing industry has never been stronger, and physical books are still extremely popular and selling very well.
It's more accurate to say they're obsolete in your tiny bubble universe, because you're a non-reading neckbeard who thinks because he can use Google, he knows everything.
source: work in the book industry. You're completely and utterly wrong.
Another source:
https://janefriedman.com/myth-print/
Amazon is shutting down brick and mortar, but they're still selling a shit ton of books, and hundreds of books are published every month. It's even better for authors starting out, because of self publishing and the cost of short run books dropping significantly. Markets have also gone global, and you'll see sales go up even more when popular Western authors invest in Chinese versions of their work, and vice versa. Liu Cixin is one of the first Chinese authors to see huge success in the west, and there will be many, many more.
That part that your feeble little neckbeard brain doesn't get is that people like stories. Books are the best way to get stories out to a mass market. (Vocal is the best) People like to be entertained. Books are for more than "small morsels of information", they're for storytelling, wether it be historical fact, or fiction.
Print's death has been declared several times in my lifetime, and they've been wrong every time.

Honestly, just start with some young adult fiction. It really is nothing to be ashamed of and the stories are a million times better than anything you'll find in videos and movies. When you haven't exercised in a long time you're not your not just going to bust out 100 push ups like it's nothing. You have to build up to it. You have to think of your brain as a muscle, and you have to work up to the more challenging books.
Go on Amazon or Goodreads and filter by young adult and find something that looks interesting. You'll be surprised at how quickly you can build up your attention span but you have to do the work. You have to always be reading something.

The International Jew - The World's Foremost Problem
By Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company
"The International Jew" by auto magnate Henry Ford, is comprised of newspaper articles printed in 'The Dearborn Independent" during the 1920's.
At the apex of his business career Henry Ford sensed that a terrific effort was being made to take his business from him and manipulate it into the hands of the money-changers. Henry Ford, who had the impression that these manipulators were being engineered by powerful Jewish financiers, called to his office the most intelligent research men within his acquaintance. He commissioned them to make a thorough study of the International Jew and publish their findings in "The Dearborn Independent," which at that time was the official organ of the Ford Motor Company. No expense was spared, and it is estimated that literally millions of dollars were spent by Mr. Ford on this project.
The original articles were carried first in "The Dearborn Independent," and then published in book form. This book, "The International Jew," provides a hard-hitting, easy-to-read introduction to what the renowned American automaker and industrialist called "the world's foremost problem." This influential and much-discussed collection of essays, packed with facts and insights, is an eye-opening survey of the enduringly vexing "Jewish question."

Would this book be recommended for people who are skeptical or new to the JQ?
Been trying my fucking hardest to finish this. It's well done but a tedious read. I haven't looked forward to my evening reading time as much since I started this to be honest.

crystallizing public opinion by edward bernays
This
The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion are the minutes of a secret meeting of Jewish elites in which a master plan for world domination, to be completed over the next 100 years, is laid out in chilling detail.
The Protocols tell of Jewish control of world banking, world media, Communism, liberalism, and political parties of every type.
The master plot includes plans to:
- Destroy the Catholic Church and all Christianity
- Promote Atheism
- Wage class warfare / labor against management
- Overthrow Tsarist Russia
- Corrupt the morals of the people
- Promote senseless “modern art” and dirty literature
- Use anti-Semitism to keep "lesser Jews" cohesive
- Manipulate women with ideas of "liberation"
- Create economic depressions and inflations
- Create "controlled opposition" to themselves
- Use state debt as a weapon to enslave countries
- Subvert and control all existing governments
- Install tainted politicians that can be blackmailed
- Manipulate college students with phony idealism
- Assassinate world leaders
- Spread deadly diseases
- Use balance of power politics to control nations
- Commit acts of terrorism
- Promote sports and games to divert people
- Start a World War which will include the USA
- Set up world government after an economic crash

The internet.
But seriously, since a few years i started analysing and reading the bible. This is the heaviest shit on earth, beats every book there is.
This shit got changed on multiple levels so often, and comparing it is the best autistic hobby i found so far. This fucking piece of shit book controlled european life for almost 2000 years, can you even imagine what that shit did to us? The bible is in the whole a good book, which is propably based on even OLDER knowledge of the world and being. God is the present moment, not a deity, it is everything that is right now. Because everything we do is always in the now, not future or past.
If you are a buddhist and read the bible you realise all the changed views, it is nothing more than eckhart tolles the power of now.
Some priests etc realised what real love to "god" means, but it got perverted too the text.
Well.

hrm. Since all schools are leftist, all we need to do is post something on the right.
The Thomas Sowell Reader? Well, no, some college somewhere might read that.
Oh! I know! The GULAG Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn. It's really popular right now because of Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, but I promise you no cultural Marxist university would ever assign that!
So what do I win?

I like what Peterson said about this representing academics as tiny mice with one giant ear growing out of them.
However, I am wary of what Cernovich said about it, that is to say that it's impossible to understand until you've read it, contemplated the meaning for ten years, and then read it again.

>>132044715
This is absolute bullshit. Books let you immerse yourself on a subject, on the mind of the writer, on the actual idea he is trying to convey in its fullest form of expression. It's sad that you think that way, but then again, I think the lack of willpower to read books is just one symptom of the disease of modern life: the inability to maintain concentration on a single thing for extended periods of time, which is essential to create anything meaninful.
Do you really believe skimming over a few shitposts on /pol/, or reading a few clickbait articles in BuzzFeed will achieve the same effect? At least you should awknowledge this instead of doing mental gymnastics to rationalize your shit attitude.
