What makes townspeople distinct from nobility/aristocracy?

Aristocratic or noble power is derived from the lands they rule as it is based on farming primarily, these lands are inhabited by people which they want to keep safe so that they can keep generating profits for them. Keeping the peasantry happy, and safe from invaders therefore is the best way forward.

Townspeople's power is derived from the wealth they mainly game from things like trade, which requires free movement of goods, desire to maximise profits means having more and more freedom to trade and being able to move labour around means they can also make products cheaper due to wage compression.

atheism: it feels nicer to believe there is no God for some, and it may be true there is not.
leftism: I dont mind all kinds of people, we can all be friends, we can all help each other out
revolutions: need context: "we think things are not as good as they can or should be, lets try to change that"
democratism: we dont want one or 100 people making all the laws and plans and ruling us telling what we can and cannot do, we each want a say in how our collective land is governed

Towns are shitholes, and they killed religion because they think they are smart. So they need the promise of a real utopia to try to build towards. Otherwise the nihilism kicks in. Read Nietzsche.
