They end up in Calais and get stuck there and either go back to Africa or go to Germany. There was an interesting panorama documentary on it. They get scammed by French Algerians and other migrants trying to get them across the Channel but that strip of water is more unsafe than the med, oh and there's a shit load of armed guards/walls etc at Calais.
