It depends.

From the perspective of Communists who did not want to see the return of a Russian Tsar, then yes, you have to end the family line. See history for numerous cases of what happens when you fail to take out rival claimants to the throne.

From the perspective of somebody that abhors the dehumanisation that Communism spreads wherever it is put into practice, the answer is No. The murder of those beautiful girls set a precedent of bloodshed.

Also the general attitude in Russia at the time was an anxiety and excitement for change. It was bound to happen.
