Tech Billionaires are buying doomsday shelters because they think automation is going to cause a societal collapse. Basically they want to hide in a comfy bunker while the rest of us peons are left in the dust

Silly Con Valley's schtick is basically to automate the jobs of ordinary people, thereby destroying the livelihood of said ordinary people.

It's either that or they're selling our personal data to the highest bidder.

Back in the 1940s. 50s, and 60s it seemed like the tech and STEM people were trying to build society up, trying to send people to the moon, etc. Now their goal is to just destroy and loot the system of it's wealth and hide away in a bunker while society goes to shit.

So what's the difference between these Silly Con Valley billionaires and marauding pirates? Do they deserve any of their wealth if what they're doing is causing a systemic crisis?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1zVAfE0YdA

At least when the great depression happened, bankers/economists like Irving Fisher reformed their ways somewhat and tried to rebuild society.

The world is changing fast.

People without education, like 87% of the monthly visitors of this board (survey by vice news), will have a terrible future.

You either learn to like maths and coding or you will be the slaves of those who do. There was a time where you could live on society's edge and not contribute to anything and have a (((decent living wage))) but that time has come to an end.

If you don't obbey the rules of the new rulers of this world, you will live miserably.

The only question is, what will you do

UBI is a vehicle to governmental slavery and an uncontrollable hyper-welfare state.

Look up 'Riders of the Purple Wage' by Philip Jose Farmer. That kind of society would be inevitable under such a system. Degradation and stagnation of nations and societies to the extreme.

actually automation is a good thing it will make it easier and cheaper for someone to start up his own business, thus more competition, also it would be easier to compete against huge AAA companies.
For instance I make video games, before you would have to higher a texture artist, 3d modeler, concept artist and a rigger, sounds expensive right? well not anymore with the tools to day you can higher a 3d modeler to do both texture and 3d art and rig a character, thus making it cheaper for me to start a buisness and create my product, now with the unreal 4 engine out i don't even have to higher tons of expensive programmers to make an game engine. automatation is great for small buisness.

What technology. Be specific. Servos? Neural networks? Censors? Guess what? This technology has been around for decades. Sure, it has gotten smaller, but most jobs don't require microtechnology to be automated. It's not automated for other reasons. Protip: Companies respond to demand and humans aren't demanding the robot apocalypse you retards are imagining.

It was written and foretold millennia ago that during the "end of days" (read the signals, were in the end times as a planet) that the kings of this world will be the Archangels Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Uriel....

Only way to keep billions is to make normies feel like they are treated good while feeding them up with shit.

It works in oil based countries. While there is a group of people with billions $$$, they share very small % of it with whole society so normies are convinced that its all okay and fair. Otherwise they would rebel.

>Their endgame

Their endgame is simple and obvious.

Step 0: loot the system of it's wealth

Step 1: hide in their basement when the shit hits the fan and there's a bunch of unemployed peasants running around.

Step 2: after the dust settles they re-emerge from their basements as part of the post-crisis ruling technocrat class.

White collar paper-pushing jobs are the first on the chopping block, boyo. All you need is robust software. Trades and jobs that require physical interaction with customers or materials are much harder to automate, because you need a reliable general purpose humanoid robot with sufficiently advanced AI to handle a variety of tasks.
>>
>>131943060
There is only one reason to build a bunker/shelter like that. Is it all because of automation? Who knows, I think most of it is anticipating a market crash, which you would have to be fucking retarded not to anticipate one at this point. Sometime in the next 10 years the world is going to change very quickly for the worse.
>>
>>131937316

To be honest, society was correcting itself until liberals wanted to import millions upon millions of low IQ/high birthrate migrants.

> Institute a 1 child policy throughout the world (except in places where the population is already declining.)

This will allow the population to level out with the inevitable increase in automation. Problems solved. Not to mention, if the population goes down, the quality of life rises. This can be done peacefully and without any bloodshed at all. It's a realistic way of solving this problem (as well as a possible UBI until we level out the population.)

Think long term. What is a tool? It is an object that we use to accomplish a task we cannot do ourselves. We cannot drive nails with our fists, so we use hammers. We cannot run at 100mph, so we use cars. We cannot solve thousands of complex equations in milliseconds, so we use computers. But what if we didn't need those tools to achieve the same result? What if we could do what the hammer the car, and the computer does without external aid? The end goal of machine superintelligence is not to merely do everything for us, but to allow us to become capable enough that we don't need it. The final purpose of AI is to put itself out of a job.

Stop being willfully obtuse. As we speak, machines are doing financial analysis and conducting millions of dollars of trades. They are driving cars. They are diagnosing cancer better than panels of physicians. They are delivering food and packages. It's already happening you moron. Just because the entire economy isn't automated yet, doesn't mean automation isn't a thing. Neither does anything you said invalidate my point. A desk job requires no interaction with physical materials, so it is by definition easier to automate than a maintenance welder job in an oil refinery.

Removing the struggle from life will be like activating invincibility in a video game. Our lives will become very boring. When AI starts replacing us in art, we'll officially have zero purpose.

All the musical artists you listen to, their music will be cheapened by AI that will use algorithms to replicate their chord progressions, bass lines, even their lyrics. We'll never be able to tell if someone wrote a song with machine assistance and thus the value of art (and the human species as a whole) will be severely undercut.

When genetic perfection can be achieved in a lab, everyone will become perfect. That means no one will be special. Scientists can flip a switch and make humans that are happy 24/7, wholly independent of external stimuli. No more scientific progression for humans, let the robots do it. But why should the robots want to advance scientifically? The end goal of any organism is to reproduce. Blablablabla...

UBI will collapse under its weight as does all communist fiscal policy. The rich will no longer have a need for you, anyways. Their robots will gather all of their energy and food resources for free. Their robots will build their mansions for them. Their robots will build expensive cars for them. There will be no need to keep you alive.
>>
>>131941213

UBI is a universal gibs check to anyone able to breath. A stupid idea based on leftist doomsday scenarios and welfarist ideologies taken up to 11. No man is entitled to money merely for living, especially those who already have it in some manner.

As long as man lives, there will be some manner of jobs to do, and people willing to do them. Robots cannot and will not take everything, and the economy and demand for human workers will adapt with it.

The government should only provide a small cushion of welfare on a need-only basis. For the unemployed, temporarily, for the disabled, and for the elderly. That which is in between can be covered by private charity and local communities. It can either be a trimmed-down version of the present system, or perhaps even a VERY limited Negative Income Tax that replaces it.

This seems like one of the least sensible doomsday scenarios - I can understand biological / natural / nuclear disasters causing a sudden collapse, but automation seems too slow for society not to self-correct.

If politicians don't curtail the automation for fear of the collapse, where their heads would be one of the first to go, then the rioting populace would.

The benefits of automation are economic, which is nonexistant if it's reached the point where society collapses.
>>
>>131945268
>What you just wrote is incoherent.
If you have poor reading comprehension, maybe.

If we have superintelligent AI that can do everything, why would we rely on them to do things for us, instead of enhancing ourselves to the point where we are as superintelligent as them and no longer need to use them? Adding extra layers of complexity results in extra failure modes. My point is, we will become the AI. And then we can do whatever we want.

You define your own meaning in life, you clown. Just because a machine can make better music than you, doesn't make the song you wrote any less legitimate. Right now, human musicians make better music than you; we don't even have to get into the issue of machines. Does that mean you're going to kill yourself because there is no point in living anymore?

>If we have superintelligent AI that can do everything, why would we rely on them to do things for us, instead of enhancing ourselves to the point where we are as superintelligent as them and no longer need to use them?
That's the wrong question. You're talking about improving a failing model past a threshold that's impossible to breach. That is to say that there's diminishing returns for what you can make a human capable of and it would be much simpler just to switch to artificial humans with machine brains rather than meat brains.

If you want to call that AI human, go ahead. I never will.

Your meager intellect has lead you to misinterpret my point. No, I won't kill myself because I'm not one of the finest composers in the world--that would be silly. What I did say is that it will be hard to appreciate art when it's so easily replicated (you know, like supply and demand). I would have thought an autistic ancap could understand such simple concepts.
>>
my favorite part is that there are people who think robots will replace the arts. clearly someone who's never played music before. if your life revolves around a screen you will clearly have no value in life so why not end it now? none of this end times garbage will happen from automation unless you're a lazy sack of shit.

Up to you. It's the logical result of advancements in AI. Don't cry when everyone around you is an augmented "human" and you're still stuck with a meat brain, like some sort of caveman.

>it will be hard to appreciate art when it's so easily replicated (you know, like supply and demand)
Art is not appreciated simply because it is rare. People appreciate blank canvases, something you can buy for $20 at any art supply store.

Think about your favorite musical artist. How many pieces did they produce? How many are actually your favorites? Evidently you have no problems appreciating music despite an abundant supply of it.

>Art is not appreciated simply because it is rare
It is, actually. It's called the contrast principle. It's why an artist like William Adolphe-Bouguereau would be called masterclass today but by the standards of his time he was merely "Meh, one of the better ones." Furthermore, it's a lot harder to appreciate the beauty of something that was created artificially by a soulless machine. Can you imagine people wearing T-shirts of their favourite melody-generator like they would their favourite band? It's silly and misses the point of art as human expression.

Listen, how much music there is now doesn't matter as very little of it is any good (and it's mostly created by human beings). When you have AI that's composing 1,000,000 Beethoven sonatas per minute, there's a real problem there for people who like to write music. Any retard could make pretty sounds with the click of a button.

I'm right. You're wrong. Simple as that.

Automation is getting easier and cheaper every day. Every man and his dog has a CNC machine in his garage. Supposedly "complex" assembly tasks can be programmed by literally holding the hand of a robot and moving it to where it needs to be. Automated systems are less-and-less designed for single products.

Do you actually know a single thing about manufacturing?

>Accountants.
That's not the only white-collar job you fucking faggot. Here's a list of jobs with most expected growth for 2024 (https://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_table_104.htm)
personal care aides, registered nurses, home health aides, retail salespersons, nursing assistants, customer service representatives, cooks, janitors and cleaners, medical assistants, construction laborers, software developers.

And as for general AI (I guess this is what you're referring to with real), while not impossible, I believe we are very far from attaining it.

>>
worrying about automation is so 2 months ago

the current fear is that everyone's wired up so bad and criminals/russia's finally figured out that you've essentially got a zero marginal cost nuclear bomb in ransomware that is covert and travels accross mediums like an infectious disease.

say goodbye to your banking system, your hospitals, your logistical networks, and your power grid. You can thank your political represenatives that vow to "return a cyberattack with even greater force", defense divisions that are 90% concerned with "offensive weaponry", and a tech industry that's seen if you're first out of the gate and can monopolize, you'll make a couple hundred billion dollars.

ransomware of course is what's been in the news lately, but it's the whole spectrum of infectious computer diseases :)
>>
"robots" aren't the issue aswell; the hardware requires creation and moves too slow for an economy/workforce not to react.

software on the other hand can be deployed at such a rapid rate that you can't react and you'll shake the economy and pop existing bubbles.

another interesting thing will be how this affects housing markets. Most of the largest cities in America cater to a more global working professional class and then have a service class(?) that runs the city. What happens if you can essentially remove your need for that service class, or at least lessen the amount you need in total? The only thing I can forsee is a flight from the cities by the lower class, then what happens? Do rich foreign nationals then come in and purchase up all the real estate that now has lower value? Do more professionals move into the cities? Are those that rent-seek unable to meet their existing liabilities and default?

To say that White men are not adverse to such a desperate environment would be a fallacy. Whites are built for uncertainty, by climate itself. Looks like the unwashed have to sabotage their escape plans. If everyone's going down, they're going to take the elites with them.

There are people who are working on these secret projects that are considering sabotaging said doomsday shelters and cause it to fail, either burying or suffocating the occupant(s) within. Some have even planted poison gas, making said doomsday shelters like some kind of twisted Schrodinger's box, but whoever opens it will find that the inhabitant(s) would be dead 100% of the time. Oh, and irradiation. They might live through the "apocalypse", but they'll either be sterile or too genetically damaged to sire normal children--either way, they "end".

There is no escape for the elites.

We have time. And anything that well protected must be worth effort. Of course, there is no indication that these guys are building NORAD. Most of the doors I have seen are in the 4-6 inch steel range. Often double doors with an airlock.

These nerds don't know anything about the workin' man, rednecks, or mexicans. They will rig up oxyacetylene and/or plasma cutters, steel cutting saws, and breach these doors in short order. Most likely, the "miners" will be accompanied by a war band of vets with now decades of combat experience.

It's like a me.xican stand-off. What they do depends on their options. What's viable?

Best case scanario is that they invest heavily but then find out there's really no place to hide which can be defended by loyal people, because there are no people loyal to an unethic and disloyal person.

Once they realise this they will see the need to face the public will and not work directly against the public good.

It's interesting how they seemed to move into a seeming over-drive in pushing their agendas lately. Almost like they're late or behind. I don't think things are going strictly according to plan.

We need to think more about a C.O.T. plans (continuity of Trump-wave) for when he's gone.

LOL at anyone who believed technology and science is here to improve and build society up. How dumb are you?
