Time for an Austria thread.
There is not much talk about it in the international media, but the election that is happening in october in Austria could have huge effects on the whole migrant crisis.
Sebastian Kurz, who was one of the politicans who got the Balkan-route closed is the candidate for the Conservative party, and after he took over he soon started to campaign on an intent to close the mediterranian route aswell.
The coalition between social democrats and the conservatives is broken, and both want a coalition with the right wing FPÖ after the election.
Meanwhile, the green party fractured in 3 parts and it is possible that they all get kicked out of the national assembly.
The latest polls show the conservative ÖVP under Kurz at about 33% and the social democrats (SPÖ) and the nationalistic freedom party (FPÖ) about tied at 26 to 24%
The green party lost it´s two most important members, party leader Glawischnig left a while ago, and their Oldtime corruption hunting core guy Pilz, left the party and will probably start his own list, threatening them all to get under the 4% hurdle to get into parliament.
