I have no fucking idea. I'm not even sure if it's possible to really understand their desire for constant attention and validation if you are somewhat introverted either.

Whenever I look at my social media feeds it's so fucking obvious that it's all fake. I know these people, I know that they didn't spend their morning lazing around in the park but that they actually just sat down for 5 seconds to take that selfie before they entered the windowless office to slave away for 8.5 hours.

Maybe it helps them cope and pretend that their life is not shit or something.

I live in a traditionalist, conservative, collectivist nation. First point is that it's not all that different here. Even hardcore conservative nations like Iran aren't as different as you think. Humans are just humans wherever you are.

Person one sees the photo of his colleague during a cacation, so he feels like an idiot for being a normal person, so he sets up something like a photo on the beach.
Person 2 sees the photo of person 1, he feels sad because it's life is dull so he makes a photo of him or her reading a bookw with his/her cat and write that he/she having a good day.
