Well, at least in the USA, the problem is the system was structured in a way that decentralized central authority, but then we gave it all up.

Repealing the 17th amendment to give the states back the right to appoint to senators would be a start to fixing this shit.

You'd still be electing your senators, you'd just be doing it the proper way by electing your state representatives, who in turn represent your state assembly who vote as a whole to elect a senator, and as such, can recall and replace that person when they become a corporate or party shill.
