Social media, as a whole, is a detriment to society. It gives average, ordinary people, with nothing special about them at all an inflated sense of self importance. When people think they are important, when in fact they are insignificant in every way, you end up with the common liberals you see every day crying in the street because they didn't get their way.

Exactly. The best course of action is to remove yourself from all forms of social media. This will not only strengthen your current friendships by forcing personal interactions, but will also no longer add to the validation of attention seekers.
