That's a good joke. The only people who chose Christianity were the Romans, who then imposed it on all the people they subjugated. After Christianity had conquered the Roman Empire it was able to sway any pagan ruler to convert.

The populating of N. America could have been accomplished more peacefully, by both the natives and the settlers, since there is so much land. (Theoretically of course, since most 16th century humans had different values and morals than most 21st century humans. )

While overall the crimes against the natives probably outweighed the crimes against the colonizers, both did a lot of nasty stuff so it wasn't as clear of case as Constantinople and others.
