I can see the argument that the President should hold himself to a higher standard and exercise dignity that is appropriate for the office he holds, but that's more of a loose expectation of "honor" or whatever you want to call it, it's fluff. He isn't bound by law to act a certain way, he could go much further than he has already and it would be perfectly legal in every way.

That's how humor, especially off-the-wall humor, tends to go. You get 80% of people who are ambivalent or turned off, and 20% who love it.

They do the same thing every time: they see something they don't like, they come up with an ad hoc reason why it's bad and demand that the right Do Something About It, usually meaning purge the offending person. That ad hoc reason is then discarded until the next time it is useful.

There is no sense of consistency. The rule need not apply to leftist politicians; they can make any insults they like, take whatever actions they like, call the president and his base every kind of name, and it slides.

Likewise, there's no sense of history. These are the same people who can say straight-faced that Obama had a scandal-free presidency. "At least Obama never insulted a woman's face lift."
