Lel. You don't have a fucking clue what it's like in the UK. First of all, all of those firearms are divided into completely different sections based upon different pieces of legislation that make absolutely no sense what so ever. To achieve a gun license, you must be a member of a gun club for 6 months, have a gun lock storage, still be approved by an FEO (which can take an additional 2 weeks up to 4 months depending on area), set out weapon purchases, justify each firearm, receive a signature from a "standing member of the community" so usually your GP, but if you happen to know a politician - he'll work too. Also, like I said, the firearms are divided into different sections.

You could not justify owning a .22lr semiautomatic rifle in the UK for vermin hunting, those who can are target shooters in general. Equally, you couldn't justify, nor accomodate, a .50 calibre weapon in a regular shooting range nor for practical purposes would there be any justification for it. These firearms are still divided into Section 1 and Section 2 also. Once you own a specific license, you can't simply go into a store and purchase any firearm you like and all the ammunition you like.

Top it off with the fact you can't own for self defence reasoning out of NI and handguns are illegal, again, outside of NI. Some people, not surprisingly, don't find applying for a gun legally is worth it. There is no single piece of gun legislation in the UK. It's all based on amendments from the late 19th century right up until 2001. That's why 12 years old can legally own shotgun certificates but not 4.5mm bb guns.
