He's isn't wrong. Capitalism has benefitted colonizers the best (ie whitey) and comparatively failed those that have been colonized in most cases. If you consider the pros and cons of capitalism (production good but distribution to those in the most need bad) and socialism (production weak but distribution placed as a priority) and then consider that socialism hasn't been tried in a country or society that could meet the demands of both production and distribution it could work. All countries that have tried it mostly have or were weak in production already.
