Pretty much, never did get the whole "thankyou for your service" thing and the hero status they get.

With all due respect to our armed forced who I do respect, i'll allways hold our ambulance crews/paramedics/nurses etc in higher regard than a squaddie, the army protects the interests of the government, our nurses protect the people, unarmed, spat at, assualted, taken for granted, the horrors they see annnnd off to the next job with people expecting a smile on their faces and the day after, and the day after...

New figures have shown that the number of people in work has reached a record high.

Over the last seven years we have been working hard to ensure that we build a strong economy that can continue to create more jobs. There are now 2.9 million more people in work than in 2010 and the unemployment rate is the lowest it's been since 1975.

But we know there is more to do to build a stronger, fairer Britain. We want to protect and build on this progress to make sure everyone has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of where they live or their background.

This news is a further step in that direction.

We need to get Brexit right, with a deal that commands maximum public support. A new Repeal Bill will provide as much legal certainty as possible for businesses and individuals as we leave the European Union. A Trade Bill and a Customs Bill will allow us to trade and to do business with countries right across the world. And an Immigration Bill and a Fisheries Bill will mean that we take back control over our borders and our waters.

We will build a stronger economy and a fairer society so we can improve people’s living standards and fund public services like our NHS and schools on which we all depend. Not only will we continue to increase the National Living Wage and ban letting agents from charging fees to tenants, but we will make sure that people are allowed to go as far as their talents will take them. So we will continue to provide a good school place for every child, take further action on domestic violence as well as offering more support for people who suffer from mental health.

We will keep our country safe. That means continuing to spend at least 2 per cent of our national income on defence. It means stamping out extremist ideology in all its forms, and we will establish a new Commission for Countering Extremism. And it also means supporting our Armed Force and a new Armed Forces Bill will give those who bravely serve our country more flexibility in the way they live and work.

We will build a more united nation. Amongst many other things, the contents of the programme will support the burgeoning aerospace industry in Wales, protect access to UK waters which are so important to Scottish fishermen and open new markets for key exporting industries in Northern Ireland.

The first official talks to leave the European Union have now begun.

We are leaving the European Union, and delivering on that historic referendum result. The Government is determined to secure a deal that works for all parts of the United Kingdom, and enables us to become a truly global Britain. We have a bold vision for the UK’s future after it leaves the EU and the exciting opportunities that will arise from our exit.

Leaving the European Union gives us the opportunity to forge a bright new future for the UK — one where we are free to control our borders and pass our own laws. We will soon introduce bills for new immigration and customs arrangements, and the Great Repeal Bill will transpose all EU law into UK law, providing certainty for businesses.

We want to make sure we get the best possible deal with the European Union. These talks will be difficult at points, but we will be approaching them in a constructive and respectful way. It is vital that the deal we strike allows both the UK and the EU to thrive, as part of the new deep and special partnership we want with our closest allies and friends.

Over the last seven years we have been working hard to create more opportunities for ordinary working people. That starts by helping more people into work so that they can earn a living and provide for themselves and their family.

Five years ago there were more than 2.6 million people who were unemployed. Today that number has fallen by almost a million.

And there’s more good news – since 2010 almost 2.7 million people more are in work. That’s millions more people going to work, earning a living and better able to provide for themselves and their family.

With more people in work than ever before, unemployment at its lowest in more than a decade, our economy growing and wages rising, our plan to support ordinary working people is working.

But whilst this is good progress, we know that there is so much more to do if we are to truly build a country that works for everyone.

Share this important news, and together let’s build a country that works for everyone

Theresa May's plan for Brexit will return control to Britain and allow us to stand tall in the world again.

Getting the Brexit negotiations right is central to everything – our economy, our finances, our position in the world.

Get Brexit wrong and we get everything else wrong. From looking after our elderly to educating our children, everything depends on getting Brexit right.

Just 11 days after you vote, the EU wants to start Brexit negotiations with Britain. So whoever is Prime Minister must be up to the job and ready to go.

Only Theresa May has a plan for Brexit and the ability to deliver. And she needs every vote from every part of the country to give her the best hand at those negotiations just 11 days after you vote.

Theresa May has set out a plan to get the best possible Brexit deal - with 12 negotiating objectives:
Certainty and clarity
Control of our own laws
Strengthen the Union
Maintain the Common Travel Area with Ireland
Control of immigration
Rights for EU nationals in Britain, and British nationals in the EU
Protect workers’ rights
Free trade with European markets
New trade agreements with other countries
The best place for science and innovation
Cooperation in the fight against crime and terrorism
A smooth, orderly Brexit

A vote for any other party is a vote for Jeremy Corbyn running the Brexit negotiations. That would be a disaster for ordinary working people in Britain, risking jobs, living standards and our economic progress.

All of the other parties ignore the need to get control of our borders – and they talk about ignoring the decision the country made and staying in the EU.

For the best Brexit deal, vote for Theresa May and the Conservatives.

Work can actually be quite therapeutic for mental health conditions:

.There is good evidence that being out of work or 'workless' is bad for your health.

People who are unemployed

have poorer physical and mental health overall
consult their GP more
are more likely to be admitted to hospital
have higher death rates.

The problem is the entire labour market is fucked so nothing works properly. Zero hours are fine assuming labour is in demand and one job isn't divided between 50 pakis like it is atm. Reminder that Mogg disavowed the ‘Traditional Britain’ group after he caved under pressure from the leftist media for speaking to a genuinely socially conservative group

Reminder that Mogg helped to campaign against UKIP’s Mark Reckless in the 2014 Rochester By-Election – a crucial make-or-break moment in UKIP’s history that would’ve destroyed the party’s momentum and prevented Brexit from ever happening had Reckless not been elected.

Reminder that if Mogg placed his principles and nation above party and career then he would’ve defected to UKIP alongside Carswell and Reckless back in 2014, back when there was significant UKIP momentum and it seemed as if UKIP could gain several seats in Parliament.

I think there is some merit in what you are saying, and lifestyle changes can make a positive impact on recovery. Where it can become more tricky is illnesses such as psychosis or bi-polar, when a person can go through long stretches of mental ill health. Depression and anxiety are easily treatable, but again, can impact on a person's ability to work if severe enough.

"Depression" is an indication of lack of normal human fullfillment, it is the body working normally, not an illness. If we didn't get depressed, or stressed or angry we would have never progressed as a species. only by addressing your personal shortfalls can you solve your depression.

How do we exterminate the socialism infecting brit/pol/?

Last few days I've seen someone call old Labour socialist economics based, praise for welfare like the NHS, calls for more wealth redistribution, praise for the working class parasites and grimy northern cities, and basically a lot more commie shit from serious posts.

They've been spreading since Farage started using memes about ordinary people to help achieve Brexit, making UKIP appear socialist and making the commies here feel safe to come out the woodwork, even though in reality he's a based nationalist libertarian and former businessman.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/nov/12/film-nigel-farage-insurance-based-nhs-private-companies

Here's footage of Farage both saying the NHS should be privatised because the government are retards and, most infuriatingly of all, a bunch of """workers""" cutting him off and behaving like rabids to censor him when he tries to point out that bloated workers rights destroy small businesses.

Thank you for your analysis, Dr. Calendar. You are right, but only in part. A very small part. There are many other factors at play. Many. And answer me this, what if there is no way to address your personal shortfalls? What if the depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain that cannot be rectified with Jewish potions? What if your back truly is up against the wall? You don't know, do you? In genuine cases of depression, not just sadness or displeasure due to unfortunate external circumstances, sometimes there is no cure. I speak from both personal and professional experience. Depression frequently results from bereavement. Depression being a disproportionate and dysfunctional sadness, not merely the sadness we associate with grief. As I say, you're just far too simple in your understanding of this

If you get referred for CBT then it's game over.
CBT is what they offer to hypochondriacs and people they think have self-diagnosed mental disorders.
It's a non-treatment for a non-issue.

Grief is a natural response to bereavement, and most people go through the various stages (Kubler-Ross) before coming to an acceptance of their situation so you are correct in that.

More broadly speaking, there is increasing evidence of a genetics as a causal link in depression:

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2011/05May/Pages/genetic-link-to-depression-found.aspx

There is also evidence of physiological causal factors in depression:

There are genuine cases of the human mind working incorrectly, but that is a very small percentage.
How many people today are depressed because they don't go outside, don't socially interact, don't pursue their goals, are physically unfit, eat crap and so on? The vast majority.
People are so quick to remove personal responsibility and go so aggressive when someone suggests that they are at fault and not something beyond their control, no wonder such an attitude is attractive to you cunts. People (including medical "professionals") have tried to diagnose me with PTSD a few times without actually addressing any of my actual shortcomings at the time and completely glazing over the source of the apparent "PTSD" because they heard a magic buzzword or two.
For that example of PTSD, it does fucking exist, but the vast majority of cunts who are diagnosed don't have it.

I do rate CBT desu particularly for anxiety and depression, and have personally found it helpful. Good to hear you came off the medication - I did too, a few months ago, and it was a horrid come down for a couple of months.

I guess see above. Sometimes you have to be pushy with your GP kek although it can be a little difficult if one is feeling low in mood.

>How many people today are depressed because they don't go outside, don't socially interact, don't pursue their goals, are physically unfit, eat crap and so on? The vast majority.

You don't understand. The very nature of depression means you have great difficulty with any of the above activities. Even breathing is a chore. They don't do any of those things because they're seriously depressed, they're not depressed because they don't do any of those things. That's a common misconception and it highlights your massive ignorance on this subject. You're not a doctor.

>I find the jobcentre really comfy. I've not met anyone nasty there, if I'm honest.

I think they get so many freaks, dickheads, druggies and other degenerates coming through that they're happy to see anyone vaguely decent. I saw a few different advisers whilst I was there and got on with all of them. There was even the odd occasion when they could've sanctioned me but they let it slide. I find that if you're polite, well kept and at least make an effort to fulfil the requirements then they're great.

Then again I guess it depends heavily on the individual employees. I'm sure there's a few places where everyone's a right cunt.
>>
>>131822518
If that is the case, then why is there no standardised test to categorically test for depression other than asking "u feeling sad M8?".
It is in the interests of medical services to push the "depression is an illness buy our drugs it's your only hope" meme.

FAMi am in the process of (hopefully) getting pip

after you send off the letter, they send someone to your house to do an interview with you to see if you deserve pip

the problem i had was that the woman lied in her report and said i could do stuff that i explicitly said i couldnt do

i made this very clear in my appeal and provided a copy of the interview that i secretly recorded to them as evidence and am currently waiting for the tribunal date to be confirmed where a judge and doctor basically ask you questions from the initial pip form.

i saw a guy from citizens advice in my local library who was really helpful in writing my tribunal application letter and gathering evidence. he says there is a very high chance i will win.

so as long as you persevere in going through all the appeals processes (which will undoubtedly happen as they are all lyres) and gather some evidence from a gp and go to citizens advice you should get some gibs. (assuming you have an actual condition and arent trying to take advantage of the system)
>>
>>131823458
There is a standardised test. If you go through CBT then you have to take them every session.

Pain is similarly subjective. Does that mean that pain is not quantifiable?

The GP usually does a basic screening test, and if a person reaches a certain score, then a diagnosis of depression usually follows. What should happen at this point ideally would be a referral for some kind of talking therapy:

https://www.england.nhs.uk/mental-health/adults/iapt/

There will be those who play the system, but the stigma of mental ill health acts as a deterrent to some degree. Also, there is a serious amount of research out there with an evidence base, so it is increasingly difficult to pass off depression as a just a meme illness with no basis in scientific fact.

A GP cannot diagnose mental health conditions. Only a psychiatrist and some specialist psychologists can.

I'm making a comparison. Your argument is that depression is defined subjectively, and therefore should not be subject to benefits--if you think it exists at all. My comparison to pain is showing you that not all subjectively defined things do not exist or have some sort of affect on people.

In any case, depression and pain are both objectively visible through scans. Just not within the NHS's limits to do that for every person.

The argument I'm making isn't the one you thought I was making. If anything, your argument has no basis.

Wrong.

A GP can diagnose mental health conditions but they are usually then confirmed by psychologists or psychiatrists. If you had to wait for a psychiatrist or psychologist to do the diagnosis then you would have to wait years before ever being diagnosed.
>>
>>131824889

>A GP cannot diagnose mental health conditions. Only a psychiatrist and some specialist psychologists can.

A GP can diagnose depression, which is what I stated, else, why could they prescribe a person with medication for it.

>>

>>
>>131825252
No.
My argument is that the vast majority of those diagnosed with self responsibility removing illness could solve their issues via self improvement, not drugs and bennies. Depression is a naturally occurring function of the body to indicate something is wrong, not mental illness.

You are perpetuating the modern attitude that nobody is at fault and everything is beyond our control when simple healthier living or social interaction would drastically improve matters, you want someone to tell you it's not your fault you're a pathetic mess, it's beyond your control.

You cunts really make me sick, unwilling to accept responsibility for yourself and expecting handouts because of it. Unfortunately you're in the majority and our society support pathetic pond scum who refuse to leave the house and live on pot noodles then act like they're owed something when their mental health deteriorates. Hurr durr I don't wanna go to work because I haven't showered in a week and it makes me feel anxious around people gib money pls. Fuck off.
