Inmatter of fact, there isnt a single place that I can buy computer parts locally.
There are some "computer repair shops" most of which are dirty and send stuff out more broken than it came + missing screws, Im sure they could order the parts for me, but theyd just buy it off newegg and charge me 50% markup. Also theyd probably just order the wrong parts i.e. 2400 ram instead of the correct speed.

Buying local does not have any benefits to me. My work is service oriented (a builder of sorts, limited automation, and outsourcing only costs more) so I'm fine/lucky. I get more options in products and vendors, and the Internet has more information I can educate myself with than any schlub working for an electronics store could possibly provide.

Buying local is good for people's nostalgia, but nostalgia does nothing for me ... unless we're talking about SNES games.
