Yeah but a lot has happened since then. Basically the entire east coast of Ireland (where most of our population is) has been out of native Irish dominance for well over 1000 years. Viking settlements and cities are well established in the South-East especially. Then we had Norman invasions, who themselves are mix of Viking and Frank. Then the English came who were a mix of Anglo-Saxon, Norman and native Britons.

It why Ireland has such a mix of genetics these days. Like Americans seem to think we're all freckled red haired short arses but the average height for a man in 5ft 10, he has black hair and brown eyes.

Those of us from Dublin where the Scandinavian genetics were most prevalent have a great chance of being taller and fairer. I'm 6ft3, have blonde hair and blues eyes but I still have freckles which most Scandinavians don't.

My sister did the 23 and me tests a while back and her results were something like 34% Scandinavian and the remaining was British/Irish. We didn't have any Iberian DNA at all. One of her friend who got it done was from Donegal in the north west of the country and she had 100% Irish DNA which is really rare.
