Does anyone feel apathy will be the downfall of civilization and degeneracy is just a side effect?
I'm not a religious person myself, but I do believe christianity was the institution the gave everyone a common purpose, and unified them to work for the future.
But with the decline of christianity, through loss of faith or whatever else, people are losing the institution that enabled them to believe in civilization. People are becoming hopeless, and in the wake of this hopelessness, they turn to hedonism as a way to cope.
