In the US, it seems like the pendulum is a fairly short one, cycling every 15 years or so, attached to the end of a giant pendulum that swings every hundred years or so, if not more.

So you can have small dips down while the country trends up, such as the great depression, as well as short economic booms while the country itself is found down the shitter, such as the 1990s.

The last peak of the big pendulum was probably around 1965 or so.

Tokyo will have Olympics n 2020.

That's a different cycle. Business cycles are induced by policy (15 years is nearly 4 presidential terms) and depreciation of capital.
