all forms of communalism work only in isolated and small population groups where everyone knows each other. human nature to not want to have your efforts go to another person you dont know and probably don't like because of it.

Might be possible on a nation scale if we go north korea style brainwashed though. However only a matter of time before an entity gains control of the communal aspect and then the government aspect thereafter. Remember people with power will always try to gain absolute power eventually.
