What is /pol/'s thoughts on Australia taking over our poor northern island neighbour?
Pros:
> Access to the Timor Sea oil
> Military power projection base into South East Asia
> Majority Catholic population
> 1.1 million more people to market goods to/use as cheap labour/compete with China
> It would piss off Indonesia and the Greens
Cons:
> 1.1 million new poor people
> Brown people
Solution to cons:
> No open border policy until they get their shit together

the less we have to do with shitskins the better. I say they can have their shitty gas - didn't Gareth Evans get an unfair Jew deal out of it for us anyway?

yeah but now we have a border to worry about with Indonesia, and a destination closer for some of the boats

Take over the rest of that island

we already help them break away from Indonesia in exchange for their oil.
Just leave them be

So now we, a western nation, will go to war over some third-world islands in pursuit of an imperialistic policy, which would be condemned by the rest of the west, and cripple our trade, plus we'd be attacking an islamic country, so we'd expect some attacks, Furthermore, as a commonwealth of the UK, if the governor general asks the monarchy, there's risk of dismissal and constitutional crisis,

Our best strategy would be to back West Timorese to seek independence, as I believe they're also Christian, more Protestant but still, and covertly back a separatist group while funding East Timor to possibly start something, and step in as 'peace keeping', we could also back West Papua to cause more trouble for Indonesia, as well as any non-Muslim area of Indonesia.
