You're thinking of the term "dominant" wrong.

In genetics, it simply means that the trait (e.g. black skin colour, brown eyes, dwarfism etc) is expressed genetically during development over the other allele (e.g. white skin, blue eyes and non-dwafsim).

IQ is genetic, but it is neither dominant nor recessive. It simply regresses to the mean of each parent. Say father was IQ 120 and mother was IQ 80, the IQ of the child would be 100. The higher IQ's are also caused by mutations.

This is a myth; they realize now there are numerous genes for each trait (ie, blue eyes) some of which are dominant and others recessive (for the same trait). Traits are now understood to be more complex, so just saying "dark is dominant over light" is an outdated, over-simplified Mendellian bit of "folk science".
