It's because in the 1800s the Rothschilds drew up arbitrary borders for the African continent that were designed to maximize war and conflict. Those successful borders are why they call Africa "locked down" today, the first globalist superregion.

Nice post but it kind of overplays the role of soldiers and settlers compared to trading posts. Europeans didn't just send troops wander off in the bush unless they had good reasons to. Most of early colonization was a bunch of trading posts, usually not too far off the coast, operating under a mutually lucrative agreement with the local tribe.

Military expeditions usually happened as retaliation, when a tribe killed a trader, a missionary or official and an example needed to be made. The plantation model of exploitation people think about only occurred in a few places and typically quite late in the 19th century, you can still visit those places. You can also see the colonial ruins and figure out for yourself Europeans usually stuck to coastal areas. European Settlers weren't a thing in most of Africa, except North and South Africa.

Point being, the colonization was mostly mercantile and not as invasive or even exploitative as people think. that only happened and lasted a few decades before the independence period of the 60s.
